This honey chipotle sauce is the perfect versatile sweet and spicy sauce for wings, salmon, chicken, & more! No cooking required & it’s only 6 ingredients!
If you haven’t caught on yet, I’m a BIG fan of all types of chipotle, including the powdered chipotle pepper spice, the peppers canned in adobo sauce, and the restaurant. Not exaggerating, my son was basically composed of chipotle (the restaurant) during my pregnancy. He is 99.9% chipotle burrito bowl, chips, & guac and .1% other.
Each chipotle sauce recipe has its own unique uses, ya know? Creamy chipotle sauce is good on shrimp tacos, sandwiches, and wraps. BBQ chipotle sauce is for finger-licking barbecue items or to give a barbecue ranch salad a kick. Southwest chipotle sauce is milder for cool subs and crispy quesadillas. And of course, the raspberry chipotle sauce is a delicious unexpected flavor that pairs with chicken the best. And let’s not forget a chips best friend, my hot and spicy chipotle dip!
This recipe came from the need for a new game day recipe since the super-bowl is this weekend, which don’t worry your pretty little head, it’s on its way you tomorrow! So stay tuned, but, in the meantime, don’t put limits on this delicious sauce! It’s super easy to make and great for wings, salmon, chicken, and more!
Seriously, no cooking required! Just blend and use! It’s that easy!
Remember, limiting your sauces and dips is not a good healthy eating strategy. Buying or making cleaner versions is! You’ll never stick with healthy eating if all your food tastes like bland chicken and broccoli cardboard crap.
Please. Do not worry about condiments on your food. There are a million other healthy eating priorities first! (Like how many servings of veggies did you get today?) This has been your PSA for the day.
A few tips about this honey chipotle sauce:
Yes, you can freeze it, like most things, freeze up to 3 months. You may have to reblend it after it’s been frozen, though.
If you don’t freeze it, it will be good probably up to two weeks in the fridge. How long it’s good for depends on the brand of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and how many preservatives it contains. The more preservatives, the longer it will be good. Sorry, I know, that’s weird to think about, but it’s true. Somewhere to from 7-14 days is the most likely.
You can use it on anything!
For salmon, brush it on and bake on a foil-lined sheet at 400F for 15-20 minutes. If desired, add more sauce after you are done! (Be sure to keep the original sauce that touched the raw salmon separate from the cooked.) Get recipe instructions for honey chipotle salmon here.
For wings, I love grilling my honey chipotle wings using this sauce! Get the recipe for grilled honey chipotle wings here.
For chicken or other meat. Follow the same “sheet pan” instructions as the salmon. OR wait and toss the meat in the sauce afterward. It’s worth noting that there isn’t enough vinegar in this sauce for it to qualify as a marinade, though. Just a heads up!
