I’m a huge fan of podcasts as something to listen to on a long run, when walking the dog, or on a drive greater than 20 minutes. When I got sick of podcasts I switched to audible and never looked back. I still listen to the podcasts below when I’m in between books, but I much prefer audible over a one-off podcast. You can try audible free for 30 days using this link or by clicking the image below.
Books I’ve Listened To That I’ve Loved
I’ve bought a few books on audible that I just couldn’t get into, so this is a list of the ones I loved and found helpful!
The Success Principles
Also known as the book the changed my life, you can read more about what I learned in this book in this post.
The Five Love Languages
Loved this book, it totally changed the way I approached love and how I show love in my marriage. I wrote a little bit about it in this post.
The Alladin Factor
If you are the kind of person that fears asking for things, this is a great read. The power of asking is a huge untapped resource. Since reading this book I’ve been less afraid to pitch myself and my services, no is not a word I fear.
The Four Hour Workweek
I read this book because I read a post by another blogger who had read it. I can’t remember the blogger I’m sorry, totally bad karma. What I do remember her saying was that she hired a virtual assistant to do some of her blog tasks, even though she wasn’t making anything from her blog. After outsourcing some of the non-creative tasks she was able to substantially grow her blog and start making a profit from it. I got so many valuable ideas from this book I actually listened to parts of it twice taking dubious notes. Then I found if you google it he has all his resources listed, so you can easily listen to this one and look up the resources that would benefit you later! PS I hired a VA too after I finished and have substantially grown my blog as well.
The E-Myth Revisited
I read this book because Kate of Simple Pin Media recommended it so many times on her podcast. While I didn’t find all of it totally relevant to me as I am a one woman show, it did give me a ton to think about. Strategy and consistency are the two things I took away from this book!
Eat That Frog
I read this book because the Fitnessista recommended she read it in one of her posts. I loved this one because it taught me the power of scheduling and how to schedule my life effectively.
Unshakeable
I read this one because it was mentioned on a podcast I was listening too. While it wasn’t the most interesting book I’ve ever read it was probably the most useful. He teaches you how the financial industry makes money and how not to get caught in the traps. It’s like finance 101 what they should have taught you in college but didn’t. I can now communicate instead of floundering when Mr. Hungry mentions investing ideas and opportunities.
10% Happier
This book was insanely interesting and one of the very first times I used audible to listen to a book after a long hiatus from my membership. I read it because it was recommended on Carrots N Cake.
Mind Over Medicine
This was the very first thing I listened to on audible way back in 2013 when I was a dietetic intern. I listened to it every single day on my drive to the hospital and back. It gave me so much to think about in terms of healing coming from the inside out. It was the first time I was exposed to the concept of healing the mind and healing the body, if you find it hard to believe you can physically heal yourself from ailments by taking care of your mind and spirituality you’ve got to read this book.
