Ya, so I can’t believe Christmas is next week. That’s blows my mind. I mean, we had what felt like a million Christmas events this week. But also, the boys still need to write a letter to Santa. Good thing it’s magic and gets there immediately. Also, I have no idea what we ordered, what’s here shoved in closets, what needs to be wrapped. I really have no idea. It feels like pure chaos. I know I’ll straighten it all out at some point. Usually, Mr. Hungry and I are so good at dividing and conquering ahead of time, but this year has been more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants type of year. It makes for spontaneity, I guess! ha ha
KJ was diagnosed with pneumonia at the beginning of the week. I knew it had been going around so when his cough kept getting worse and not better, plus he spiked another fever and was extremely lethargic I took him into see his doctor. He missed most of the week but was able to go to his Christmas party and performance today and yesterday, so that was good! My mom uniform all week was just leggings and an ever-changing shirt since the baby kept getting snot on it. Aw, the joys of motherhood. Anyway, I have some big announcements this week, so take a scroll! I hope you are more ready for Christmas than I am, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas/holiday!
MEAL PLANS NOW FREE!
Most of you reading Friday Favorites are probably Hungry Hobby Newsletter subscribers! I’m so excited to announce that my weekly meal plans will now be free for all HH subscribers! Just head over and log in to the Library of Resources!
I’ve been publishing weekly meal plans for six years, and now, to be able to be in a place where I can provide them for free is a dream come true. The goal of HH has always been to provide resources that I wish I had when I was learning about nutrition, cooking, and health. New meal plans get uploaded to the library by 7 am CT on Fridays.
Hungry Hobby On Reddit
The way I search things and add Reddit to the list has got to say something about my trust in big websites. So many websites are now just spam of affiliate links, and Google still prefers the big guys over small niche websites like Hungry Hobby. Anyway, I created a Hungry Hobby Reddit community. I thought it would be a fun place for us to talk nutrition, hormone balance, gut health, mom life, and spicy book,s haha
My goal for Hungry Hobby has always been community. Sure, I’m the “nutrition expert,” but I’ve made so many mistakes, and I’m still making them. At the end of the day, I’m here to share my wins and losses in the kitchen, mom life, and in health and to connect with others who want to as well!
Favorites
This craft we did at KK’s Christmas party was so easy I had to share it! If you know anything about me, you know that I don’t aspire to craft well. This was my speed and upside down ice cream cone + green icing + ornaments!
Police Ride Along
I had to share that KJ got to go on a police ride along with his bestie! He was a little nervous but ended up having so much fun with his friend!
Hot Chocolate Boards – @board.mama
We ordered these individual hot chocolate boards from my friend Robin (@board.mama) to give out to Mr. Hungry’s colleagues and teachers! They came out so cute!
Dinner and a Movie
We squeezed in a date night last night (why this post was so late.) After sitting in the car and reading Yelp reviews, we ended up at this sushi place called Oiishii Sushi and Pan Asian, and it was hands down the best meal I’ve had in a while. If you are anywhere in DFW, it is in Grapevine and worth the drive! This Vietnamese Espresso Martini was an amazing kick-off (I knew I would need some caffeine to make it through the movie haha)
The crab wontons were HUGE!
And then we got lost in actually talking and I totally forgot take a picture of our meals BUT two things first, the waiter recommended the off label roll #45, if you like spicy then ask for it, it’s amazing. Second, ask for a stoplight to go with your meal. TRUST ME. (It’s pictured below!)
We saw Gladiator II after our meal, which I expected to fall asleep during, but it was actually really, really good! And no you don’t really need to remember the first one to see the second one, although now I kind of want to rewatch the first one.
Chipotle
On a less exciting front, chipotle always hits the spot! I haven’t had it for a few months, it was so good! Forever Chipotle obsessed over here.
Amazon Wins this Week
Advent Wreath Candles
Mr. Hungry replaced our battery-operated advent candles with these fancy ones that even come with a remote and timer. I LOVE these so much, they are way nicer than the ones we had, much better made!
Ch
I also ordered these napkins, which were pretty cheap and are of decent quality for the win! Mr. Hungry’s family is super into having napkins, which is always a topic of discussion since I never have any. I don’t know, we just used paper towels or fancy cloth napkins at special events, no in betweens ha ha Adulting is weird, you get mad when you the rearrange the grocery store and you have extensive discussions on the purpose and function of napkin options.

This week I went exploring with Nala, at least one day!
