Let’s take a break from food for a moment, don’t worry it will be brief, you know where my true priorities will always be.
Recently I came to this HUGE revelation. This revelation was one of those “oh, sh*t” stop you dead in your tracks, life altering moments. You know those moments where you realize that everything you’ve been telling yourself up till that point was either wrong or a lie. It was one of those moments. I won’t keep you hanging on any longer, here it is.
I realized that I was spending all this time eating clean, working out, and taking care of myself (because I feel that taking care of yourself is sometimes a full-time job, how you all do it with kids is beyond me) for nothing. I was grinding hard every day, pushing my body to the limit and fueling it with the food that would allow me to push even harder, for what? Deep down my desire to workout comes from two reasons. I want to prove myself that I can do things I thought I couldn’t and I want to look a certain way. Well, I was proving to myself day in and day out I could push limits with zero makeup, hair in a bun, worn out with no damn reward except recording PRs. My revelation? What exactly is the point of all this if I don’t even spend the time to put on real clothes and enjoy my constant work in progress body for what I had accomplished thus far.
In my mind there is a reason why food, fitness, and fashion all start with f, they just go together. For me, one kind of leads to other and when one is off, I feel off. The problem? Oh, it’s just that I hate shopping. Okay, I don’t hate it, I just don’t LOVE it. I get tired and bored after about 30 minutes, one hour, tops. Plus I never think to myself “oh I’ll go out shopping today.” Nope, I just complain about how I have nothing to wear for months on end, then go out on one massive shopping trip and buy 15 outfits spending all day shopping. Then I wonder why shopping makes me tired and I don’t want to go. That’s why I love
That’s why I love Stitch Fix. They ensure I have at least one new outfit per season (I have mine set to quarterly) without me even having to think about it. (If you have never heard of it before, it’s basically a styling service that sends you clothes for a small fee. You fill out a profile and they send you clothes based on your body type and preference. Keep what you want and send the rest back. )
I skipped last quarters order (you know because of that whole starting my own business thing) so I was beyond excited to get my new box. It was full of staples I absolutely couldn’t live without. Spoiler alert, I kept every. single. piece.
What did I get? First up, this lovely Daniel Rainn Wiley Split Neck Blouse which I’ve worn tucked in as shown but also lose over black jeans to teach. Super comfortable and just dressy enough without being overkill.
My favorite part about this outfit is the Just Black Adora Skinny Jean in Burgundy. Listen, I’ve got hips… and a butt, the only person that thought it was a secret was me. After years of hating them, I’ve made peace with them. I’ve stopped cursing those of you that have been born with a more athletic build. I decided this because I have a friend with such build, she hates that because her narrow hips because her thighs to rub together, even though she is tiny. I can go up and down in weight almost 20 pounds before that happens to me . My point? Every one of us has a different body, I stopped trying to make mine look like someone else’s, that’s just stupid. I love that Stitch Fix consistently picks out jeans that fit my hips and waist comfortably and confidently. These are just such a fun fall color!
Let’s talk about the Market & Spruce Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee. My stylist suggested I wear it on date night. To me, it’s a little casual for that, but could be dressed up with a necklace or heels. I loved how soft it was and how it fit so even though it was a basic item, I kept it.
The Marc New York Holm Faux Suede Jacket dresses things up a bit as well. I kept this jacket because I love it, not at all because it was practical. I literally ripped it off after taking these photos, yeah, it’s still 95+ here. Hopefully, there will be like three days this winter I can wear it or we will have to go visit the inlaws in Nor Cal where I don’t look ridiculous wearing it.
Last but not least was the Moda Luxe Brooks Crossbody Bag. Maybe you don’t like the look of red and green together, but I totally do. I think it’s bold and wonderful, so I’ll do me and you do you, mmm kay? I also think this is the perfect day to night bag as it’s dress but not overkill. It’s the first accessory I’ve ever kept from Stitch Fix.

Ahh! Love all your pieces from this fix. I’m totally pinning that top and the burgundy jeans. I have the same bag from Stitch Fix in a different color and use it ALL THE TIME. Also, look at your modeling skills, girl! Love it!

Thanks Kim! Oh my gosh don’t you love the extra zipper in the flap? Like a secret extra pocket? And that outside pocket is PERFECT for my phone which I take in an out a thousand times lol

I recently gave away EVERYTHING that didn’t fit or I didn’t like. At first it was scary but then it was SUPER freeing, like a weight had been lifted. Now I have so much room for new cloths!
