This post is sponsored by my friends at Shamrock Farms, all opinions and thoughts are my own. #BeatTheHeat #ShamrockFarms
You may not know this, but Mr. Hungry and I met at U of A during our senior year in business school. So, I’ll always have a special connection to my alma matter because it’s where I met my hubby!
If you are following along on IG (@hungryhobbyRD), you may have seen we had the chance to rep U of A colors while attending a tailgating event hosted by Shamrock Farms at the Arizona State University (ASU) vs. The University of Arizona (U of A) game over the weekend.
The event was so much fun to attend together. You may remember I’ve worked with Shamrock Farms several times in the past to bring you 20+ New Ways To Eat Cottage Cheese, Healthy Orange Creamsicle Popsicles, and a Day in the Life Powered By Cold Brew. I always have a blast working with Shamrock and love that I get to partner with Arizona’s hometown dairy.
It’s funny, growing up Shamrock Farms dairy products were a natural part of our lives. Both Mr. Hungry and I kind of thought every kid had Shamrock Farms milk. We didn’t realize until we got older that Shamrock Farms is an Arizona based company that is now the largest dairy company in the Southwest.
The fact that we both know and remember Shamrock Farms as a special part of our childhood always makes us excited to participate in events associated with Shamrock Farms, and the beat the heat event was no exception!
Shamrock Farms hosted the “Beat the Heat” challenge before the annual ASU vs. U of A rival football game. Each round had one contestant from ASU and one from U of A.
The challenge was to eat one hot, and spicy wing doused with a special blend of ATL wing sauce and resist the urge to drink the pure Shamrock Farms milk on the table to put out the heat for TWO full minutes! If you did that, you got the point on the board for your school!
I love spicy foods, so I dove right in!
The wing sauce wasn’t bad initially, but then all of a sudden, my chest felt like it was ON FIRE.
I’m happy to say that I resisted the urge to put out the heat with delicious pure milk until the two minutes were over, so I earned one point for U of A! Unfortunately, my ASU opponent also won a point as well! Oh well, at least I got my face on a towel!
We hung out for a while watching the other contestants, but due to the sheer number of ASU participants compared to U of A, U of A started slipping. That’s when Mr. Hungry, who typically HATES spicy foods, decided to participate! He had to eat TWO wings, but he did it! So proud of him! (I shared a live video of him competing on my IG stories so no photos sadly.)
