These Healthy Peanut Butter Desserts like cookies, donuts, cakes, and more are made from real food ingredients and packed with peanut butter.
Hi friends. Long-time OG blog readers may remember that I haven’t always been as peanut butter obsessed as I am now.
In fact, until I was in my mid-20s, I really didn’t like it. But, in grad school to be a Dietitian, my friend would not accept that as reality. They were determined to make me like peanut butter, and thanks to TJ’s uber super salty peanut butter it began to grow on me.
Now, I’m a bit of a peanut butter addict, especially for dessert. So, today I’m rounding up all my favorite peanut butter desserts from HH and as a bonus, I asked my blogger friends to contribute their favorite (healthier) peanut butter dessert recipes too! Take a scroll and let me know what you try, but first, let’s have a little chat about peanut butter.
WHAT’S IN PEANUT BUTTER?
- Healthy Fats: Fat composes every single cell membranes in our body. It’s needed for hormone production, energy production, and helps to keep us full. Fat with a meal is directly related to the production of satiety hormones that tell you that you are full, this is a good thing!
- Protein: While peanut butter is not a high-protein food itself, it is a bonus to the source of healthy fats.
- Low Carb & Good Fiber Source: Peanut butter is a great low-carb source of nutrition that provides a bit of fiber. Higher fiber intakes have been associated over and over again with a lower risk of disease, including heart disease and colon cancer, as well as lower body weight.
- Nutrient-Dense: Peanuts are rich in many nutrients, including Vitamin E, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Magnesium, Copper, Manganese, Biotin, Iron, Potassium, Zinc, and Selenium. Furthermore, peanuts are rich in antioxidants, including p-coumarin and resveratrol, that have been shown to reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases, including heart disease. Overall, peanut butter is a nutrient-dense food.
