Happy Tuesday and welcome to December friends! That last week was way more fun and indulgent than I could have ever anticipated. We kicked off the week with a family dinner at Serranos (not recapped), Mama Shallal brought her wonderful pumpkin bread, we had Thanksgiving, Megans baby shower (recap coming soon), and our fire pit involved smores one night. I’m never one to sit out on the fun because of diet rules, that just doesn’t work for me. That being said, Mr.Hungry and I feel like we need to rein it in a bit, especially with more fun coming up for Christmas. So we are having a little mini December Detox focusing on the usual clean eating but being really mindful of treats and extras (except our Christmas Bucket List of course!) My plan is to record everything I eat here at Hungry Hobby just like the good old days to help keep me accountable. Plus my favorite style of blog to read and write will always be the daily recap posts, the kind that gives you scenes into someone’s real quest to live a healthy life. Those are the blogs that helped me out when I originally wanted to lose weight and started eating healthy. They helped me move from calorie counting to clean eating, such a more positive balance. I actually started taking photos on Sunday so here it goes… my first back on track meal was a egg white verde bowl from HG Roastery. Egg whites packed with veggies, it was perfect and so so so filling! I also had a few bites of gravy off Mr. Hungry’s plate.
Then we came home and hung up Christmas lights and did the Sunday chore thing. I made a turkey salad with the tiny bit of turkey meat we had left and some deli turkey meat.
I then proceed to sleep for two hours, I was exhausted and hungry when I woke up. I had a snack of a yogurt and two dates (not pictured) before I took Nala on a 3.5 mile walk.
I kept dinner light because I wasn’t that hungry, first I snacked on raspberries, veggies, and hummus.
Then I found the leftover Cauliflower mash in the fridge which totally hit the spot, I finished it and it was delicious!
I also snacked on some ham and cranberry goat cheese before I went to bed! Cranberry goat cheese is so delicious I could have that for dessert every night!
Monday
Monday was a weird day, I did something I hadn’t done in a long time and went through the Starbucks drive through for a feta wrap. I’m so glad I did though because those things fill me up for hours no problem!
It kept me full all the way till 12 when I snacked on a Fuel For Fire in between appointments!
I finally got to eat lunch around 2:00pm, I ordered a huge salad from the Life Cafe. I like the food in the cafe but since I work here every day I usually just go for a plain salad packed with chicken and veggies. I save the dried fruit, candied walnuts, etc… for special occasions. I’ll take a veggie packed salad any day!
Around 5pm I could see a long night ahead so I grabbed some jerky from the cafe. That long night was right, the next thing I ate was some cottage cheese from the cafe around 9pm while we huddled for the month close out.
I didn’t get home or get to bed until 10pm, erf!
As you can see I’m not being super strict about my December Detox, I think it will be just being very mindful of what and when I’m choosing to indulge and focusing on healthy filling foods as much as possible!
What are your tips to stay mindful in December?
What are you looking forward to most in December?
Right now I’m really looking forward to starting our Christmas Bucket List! We each get to pick what to do every other night, I’m so excited… Mr. Hungry picks tonight!
