Hi all, how did your Monday go? Mine was rather productive, unless you count the non existent amount of studying I did. Luckily thats pretty much all thats on the schedule tomorrow.
I have some wonderful news, I FINALLY had a good long distance training run! I’m super excited to have finally done a solid long distance run and a set a new personal distance record. Better late than never right? I headed out the house around 7:15am.
When I got there I tied my car key clicker to my sports bra, grabbed a water bottle and some cliff shot blocks and set off (after about 5 minutes of stretching out the hips.)
Here’s how I did:
1 mile- 13:07 (walked .25 to warm up)
2 mi- 10:22
3 mi- 10:28
4 mi- 10:08
5 mi- 10:26
6 mi- 10:30
7 mi- 10:36
8 mi- 10:50
9 mi- 12:14
Total 9.75 miles 1:47:20 avg 11:00/mi
At mile 6 my legs were definitely SUPER tired, but I knew I had to get back to the car one way or another. I ate one cliff shot block at mile 4, 6, 8 and 9. I don’t know how much they helped with energy but they were REALLY helpful in getting me to drink water. Usually I don’t drink any water when I exercise but eating one was like having a piece of candy and made me want water really bad. Plus, they taste like candy and were kind of mini rewards for making it to a certain distance. One more mile you can have a piece of candy… you get the idea 😉 I kind of can’t believe I made it that far after struggling with hip problems for like a month I kind of skipped over working up to miles 7-9. I wish someone would have told me about speciality running stores! Guess I should have figured… Okay anyways I ran some errands when I got done with my run so when I got home I was SUPER hungry. I quickly whipped up a Pumpkin Green (Protein) Smoothie, same as I had on Sunday and it was SOOOOOO good.
9.75 Mile Run and Pumpkin Green (Protein) Smoothie
Ingredients:
– 1/4 cup pumpkin
– 1/2 frozen banana
– 3//4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
– 1 small scoop chocolate protein powder (we use Cryosport from Costco, I don’t use the big scoop that comes with it I use a smaller one I had from a can of designer whey a while back)
– 1 tsp cinnamon
– 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
– 1 big handful of spinach
– 1/2 cup ice
* I used a magic bullet so I blended all ingredients except the spinach first, then added in the spinach at the end.
So yummy, and that held me over while I finally showered and got ready for the day. By the time I sat down to study it was 1:30 and I wanted to eat lunch because I knew we were having an early ish dinner. I heated up a bowl of the BEST homemade refried beans (Mama Shallal gave us a batch the other night) with chips and leftover healthy “fried” brussels sprouts.
After studying for a little bit and talking to my Aunt on the phone for a little bit it seemed like it was already time to start making dinner. Time just flies by I swear its crazy. Anyway, dinner worked out really well because Paul has a strong dislike for ground taco meat and I have a strong strong strong dislike for manwhich. So I sauteed a pan of turkey meat with onions and once it was done cooking we halved it. I dumped a can of green chiles and a bunch of salsa on my half and Paul made manwhich with his half. We were both happy campers. I also made cauliflower rice following instructions for Mexican Rice Bowls, absolutely delicious.
Since I had the food processor out I rinsed the cauliflower out of it and whipped up a batch of creamy hummus yogurt dip really quick.
Now that we have hummus, Paul will actually eat some vegetables! Hooray!
After we got back from picking our wedding music, which was incredibly fun I had a piece of chocolate to end the night.
It was definitely a good day! Hope your Tuesday goes well.
