Hey friends, hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! As I type this I sipping wine, watching Mr. Hungry’s family home videos and patting myself on a job well done. Despite the dog having to stay home everything went off without a hitch. We broke down the kennel and put it upstairs in our room and she surprisingly happily stayed there, except the one time when someone rang the bell, then she barked. She is feeling a lot better but still gets fatigued really easy.
So,we started our annual turkey trot, only this year we went to a different race. Usually, we go to the one in downtown Phoenix sponsored by Life Time but it’s super far and really busy. This year we decided to try one in Gilbert which was super convenient, we actually walked there!
Like I said yesterday, the wine, the soreness from the workout and everything totally caught up with me. I averaged about 9:05 a mile. My final time was 28:15 which corresponds with my watch of a pace time of 9:15 a mile so I don’t know. Whatever, technically, it’s my first 5k race, so hooray, it’s a PR! Setting the bar lower so there is room for improvement! Plus, after last weeks half marathon it felt good to go a little bit faster with no weird pain! Also, tip, don’t drink caffeine right before the race, that also didn’t go well for me. Whoops!
After the race, I basically stopped for a bathroom break then kept running home. Jumped in the shower and got to finishing up cooking. We had everything out and ready when the last couple of guests arrived.
We went around the table and said what we were thankful for. I said that I was thankful my recent health changes because that has been a big stressor in my life until recently. I know that I was better able to enjoy being around family this year without having little mini internal panic attacks. I could hang out with my nephew and when people asked me, “so are you next” or “are you ready now?” I smiled on the outside and the inside, instead of smiling on the outside and clenching up internally. I just feel so much more at ease. I know I could still have issues when we decide to go down that route, but at least I’m healthier.
My favorite part of Thanksgiving, the dessert! I actually think I ate it so fast I got a stomach ache, ha ha, whoops!
Of course, no holiday is complete without an awkward family pictures!
and one more for good measure…
Look who else showed up! Megan!
As usual, we had a great time laughing up a storm!
Now it’s time for me to finish my wine and get back to seeing little Mr. Hungry beat up his sisters.
For fun, a trip down memory lane!
How was your Thanksgiving?!?!
