These make-ahead power smoothie freezer packs will have breakfast ready in less than a minute to power you through your morning.
As you guys know, I’ve loved smoothies from SmoothieBox for breakfast.
When we get back from our morning walk, I can toss the packet into the blender with milk and collagen with one hand while holding the baby in the other hand.
Unfortunately, the SmoothieBox I ordered got left at the shipping company over July 4th weekend and arrived defrosted. After a quick chat with customer service, a replacement box was sent my way.
Side note, through this experience, I found out that both Butcher Box and Smoothie Box have less than a 1% return rate with their shipments! This is huge, back in the day I think Butcher Box (who owns SmoothieBox) had to overcome so many issues setting up a business that ships meat accross the country. So great to hear they’ve been able to decrease their incident rate to UNDER 1%, that’s huge, and I’m happy for them!
Nevertheless, I had to wait for my new box to get here and after two days of trying to spread almond butter on toast one-handed, it was time to take matters into my own hands.
How To Make Freezer Smoothie Packs
I decided to try out making my smoothie packs based off of one of my favorite Smoothiebox flavors. So I could have my dump and blend one-handed breakfast again!
The secret is in the chocolate coconut milk ice cubes! It adds filling healthy fat and flavor to the smoothie, without having to mess around with messy nut or seed butter.
Everything is frozen, so you don’t have to add extra ice, which is good because ice sometimes makes smoothies more slushy then creamy.
I typically add collagen to mine (as shown in the blender in the photo above), but Mr. Hungry preferred them with chocolate protein powder, which added a bit of sweetness.
Homemade Vs. Ordering Smoothie Packs
Verdict? I love these packets because they made my morning so much easier and didn’t take that long to prep.
Buying pre-made smoothies like from Smoothiebox is a bit more expensive than making them yourself. However, it can be useful to keep you on track during the busy seasons of your life, like having a newborn!
I’ll likely keep doing a mix of ordering some and making some of my packs! Let me know if you try these or if you try out Smoothiebox!

The chocolate coconut ice cubes are genius!!! And I’ve never thought of adding zucchini to a smoothie. I’m adding this stuff to my grocery list for next week. =)

I totally stole that idea from SmoothieBox – it’s so much easier than trying to deal with messy almond butter or peanut butter! The zucchini is great! Enjoy!
