Happy Friday, Friends!
It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been able to check in for a Friday Favorites to share a little bit of life lately. March seemed to fly by. We didn’t do anything for spring break (well, the kids and I didn’t; Mr. Hungry went to Vegas for March Madness), but the month seemed to fly by. Each week, faster than the next. I don’t know where the time goes. We’ve been spending a lot of time outside while we can. The weather is beautiful most days right now. I’ve been on this routine where I walk and do hormone training in the morning for about 30-40 minutes, then I get a quick workout in and get myself and the kids ready. If it’s not a school day (KJ only goes three days a week), then we take Nala out for a walk while the boys ride their bikes before the sitter or my MIL comes for the day so I can work. I’ve been looking into camps for KJ. I don’t want him to be gone all summer, but over spring break, I realized his boredom and brother tolerance is about a week. By the second week, the peace is gone, and he is bored, so I think we may do something every other week. I’ve been scheduling with another mom from his preschool so we can send the boys to the same places most weeks.

We don’t have huge plans for Easter weekend. A good friend is in town so that we will see him on Saturday. I plan to make carnitas and spicy guac and have the kids make Easter eggs while we hang out. I’m on deviled eggs and a veggie for Easter. I’ll probably do something with asparagus, but I am not sure yet. Also, my Aunt brought easter baskets for the kids. My mom says she has Easter baskets, and my in-laws got some things for the kids, too. I decided to let the grandparents handle Easter presents, and I’m opting out this year. I didn’t really think about Easter presents till last week, and at that point, I knew the kids were getting a bunch of stuff from all their grandparents, so I thought, ya know what? I don’t need to participate. They don’t NEED a present from us, so I decided to take that off my plate.
PS Easter nails and black nails are my favorite of the whole year. Also, I switched my nail shape from millennial square to round, I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Updating My Wardrobe
I feel like I woke up after five years of a revolving door of pregnancy and breastfeeding, and my closet was just not doing it for me. I tried to be patient and wait to “hit my pre-pregnancy weight” before buying things, but I was honestly getting grumpy in the mornings dressing myself because I hated everything. So. I’ve been buying a few small things here and there that have made a world of difference! I’m going to try to remember to share some of the things I’m loving.
Amazon T-Shirt Dress
So, working out in the morning and actually showering means I get dressed in something other than workout clothes a few times a week. I’ve been loving this Amazon t-shirt dress. The full outfit details are here. I did decide to wear biker shorts underneath, mostly because I’m a toddler mom, and it’s not super nursing-friendly (I have to lift up the whole thing for access.)
New Workout Wear
Since I work out at 530 am, I often wear totally grub clothes. But occasionally, I do wear more updated/cute stuff in case I won’t be able to shower until after drop-off. I’ve been loving this free people shirt so much that I got it from Stitchfix that I ordered two more, and my go-to leggings brand is Lorna Jane – they are the BEST quality and last FOREVER. Outfit links here.
Abercrombie Essentials T-Shirt – On Sale!
My favorite Abercrombie essentials body skimming T-shirt is on sale right now, too! The last time I shared it, a bunch of people told me it was sold out. This time, it looks fully stocked!
I have it in black and pink, as shown in this reel:
Ant Farm
Turns out that getting your kid an ant farm isn’t as straightforward as buying one on Amazon or finding ants. If you don’t have a queen, they die. You can’t order a queen because of issues with exotic vs. native species. So, you have to find a local breeder, and that’s not a 20-dollar investment, more like 150 bucks. So when KK’s godfather gave each of the kids $100 dollars, I told KJ he could use his to finally get his ant farm, and we would pay the difference. I have to admit they are kind of fun to watch, especially the queen. Do I have dreams about them getting out and getting all over my house? Yes, yes, I do. But, overall, it’s a really fun thing for the kids!
Hungryroot Meals, We’ve Loved
We order Hungryroot about once a week to give me a mental break from the meal-planning process, which also involves planning recipe shoots for the blog, and it’s daunting. We tried a few new meals this last week. I wanted to share them in case you are a Hungryroot family, too (if not, you can read my review here and get yorself a code).
Feta Pasta – I added garlic and Italian seasoning.
Honey Mustard Chicken
I made it in the air fryer and dredged both sides of the chicken (vs. the one the recipe called for). It came out delicious! I took one bite and knew I had to go take a photo.
Teriyaki Steak Stir Fry
One of my favorite parts about Hungryroot is they send a PREMADE sauce. No mixing ten ingredients to get your own sauce. The teriyaki sauce was DELICIOUS, not overly sweet or syrupy like some store-bought versions. I garnished it with sesame seeds green onion, and added a rice packet I had on hand. I love how thin the steak was sliced!
Blender Oat Pancakes
We make these blender oat pancakes once a week! I make baby girl’s without chocolate chips and the boys with!
Fitness
To the person who asked for a tour of our home gym, it’s totally coming! I’ve got it on the list!
Fitness has been pretty good recently. I’ve been averaging 4-5 workouts per week, which feels good. I’ve been changing my routine. I like for my schedule to look something like this:
- Run
- Upper Body Strength
- Metabolic/Full Strength
- Rest
And repeat….
