Whenever I travel I pretty much always pack my bag with lots of snacks and food before cloths, make up, wallet, other essentials. Mr. Hungry was cracking up at my bag full of food that has been slowly accumulating items since last week. “Look at all your travel snacks and meals, your such a good little Dietitian.” Thanks hunny. Meanwhile he plans out his meals for while I’m gone, so far I’ve heard Tostino party pizzas, corn dogs (not my homemade baked kind either), Bosu donuts, and popcorn chicken are on the menu. Secretly I’m happy for him, he eats insanely healthy 95% of the time so a week to indulge is deserved. As long as I don’t have to witness the atrocity, go for it!
Okay back to the topic at hand….airports are a crazy tempting place and everything is super expensive, especially the healthy stuff! Since I’m traveling to FNCE which is in Atlanta, literally across the country from Arizona, the travel time is going to be more than I’m use too. Recent experiences with Southwest have led me to believe that travel time will probably be doubled and I’m likely not to make it there at all. I know, I’m shining optimism right now. Either way the plan is to have lots of snacks and meals to hold me over! Some foods I’ve got packed for this trip-
- Vigilant Eats Oatmeal
- Plantain Chips
- Pistachios
- Carrots
- Apple
- Banana
- Peanut Butter
- Turkey Jerky
- Formulx Recovery Protein Shakes (<—-affiliate link)
Other Options
What’s available often depends on the airport, but my go to’s are generally:
- Starbucks Feta Wrap, other Sandwich, or oatmeal (shocker I know)
- Breakfast sandwiches and salads (Panera, La Grande Orange etc.)
- Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits
- Veggie/Hummus Cups
Can’t wait to see everyone at FNCE!
What are your favorite travel snacks/meals (purchased or from home)?
How do you stay healthy while you travel?
For me, I used to think people were crazy who brought their own food from home to the airport. I mean traveling is about splurging right!?!? Then I started traveling a lot more and realized that all that splurging was taking a toll on my energy levels and even my confidence in myself. I still splurge when traveling because I’m a foodie at heart and love to try new things. Now, I just wait for really good opportunities once I’m out of the airport!
