Hello friends! How is your day going today? Mine is a little slow given I was out past my new bedtime of 8 pm wrapping up this year’s Bible Study. I know, I am a REAL partay animal! What can I say? Speaking of parties, I was going through the blog looking for recipes to take to the potluck when I decided that a potluck tab would be helpful. Let me know in the comments section if you think so too! But on a side note, apparently, I’m a pregnant potluck food snob? I can’t figure out if it was because I just taught the food safety lab for the nutrition class I teach, or if my preggo senses were on high alert but everything looked suspicious to me. I ate veggies and dessert, at least I was balanced right?
Anyways, today is not about potluck food; it’s about the deal of a lifetime from one of my favorite companies. Look, I know that I talk about Butcher Box A LOT. I’ve written posts, sent emails, and recorded videos sharing how much I LOVE them.
Here is the thing, most people overeat meat. Why? Because we overproduce it to the point that it’s so cheap and readily available that it’s all we eat. We neglect the animals, and we ignore a healthy diet overall.
Butcher Box is changing all of that. If you haven’t heard of them yet, they are a company that offers grass-fed and grass-finished beef, free range organic chicken, heritage breed pork, and for a limited time – Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon! (The expect their Salmon to sell out fast so try and jump on this deal as fast as you can! Once supplies are gone they are gone!)
They are rewarding and bringing together the farmers who are committed to treating animals right. Yes, that means we can’t mass produce them at the rate we are now, which is terrible for the planet and our bodies anyways. But instead, it means these farmers are taking the time to raise that animal the way it used to be done, in its optimal environment with loss stress and low rates of illness. Although that requires more time, which translates into more cost for the farmer, they believe it’s worth it so they press on. They compete with extremely cheap mass produced meat that we are all used too, in the name of doing what is right and best for everyone. Not only is it better for the animal but the meat is better quality and more nutrient dense, which means it is better for us.
Butcher Box is bringing together these farmers, and by collaborating them they are able to provide the best quality meat to us for the best price. Is it the same as conventional meat in cost or quality? No, but it shouldn’t be. Meat shouldn’t be as fatty or as cheap as it is now, nature never intended that. Butcher Box is providing beef the way nature intended, super nutrient dense, environmentally conscious, and at a price point that pays the farmers for their hard work in raising that animal optimally.
So now that I’m off my soapbox, I have some exciting news. Butcher Box is now offering salmon for a limited of time- ONLY THIS MONTH thru 5/28! ButcherBox‘s wild salmon comes from the pristine waters of Bristol Bay, Alaska. They’ve partnered with fishers who uphold strict fishing and handling practices to guarantee an unprecedented level of quality, which ensures unblemished, rich-tasting, firm flesh – wild salmon at its absolute best!
