I've been shopping at Trader Joe's for years, but recently, I updated my healthy Trader Joe's 7-day meal plan and shopping list, and I realized that some of my old TJ's posts were out of date, so I've been working on updating them. I've written a ton about TJ's over the years, including 35 Healthy Trader Joes Recipes, 25 Healthy Trader Joe's Dinners, and 35 Healthy Trader Joe's Snacks. That's the thing about Trader Joe's; they are constantly getting new items and sometimes sadly discontinuing old ones. That's what makes it fun and, at times, frustrating. I wanted to create an ultimate TJ's shopping list so that I could easily update it in the future, so that's what I did today. Not only that, but I also made a PDF with all these items and added it to the Library of Resources!
It was fun to comb through Trader Joe's again with meticulous detail. The grocery store is my happy place, especially Trader Joe's. I've been working on this post, and printable all week, so I'm excited to finally share this list with you today! I printed mine out and put it in a plastic protector so I can reuse the same one and keep it on my fridge! I'll be sure to keep it updated with new items every few months or so as I do my Costco healthy printable list!
Enjoy, and let me know if there is anything you would add to the list!
Healthy Trader Joe's Produce Speciality Items
Any produce is healthy, but a few things I go just to TJ’s for are:
- Teeny Tiny Avocados
-
- It is one of the world's healthiest foods in a portion-controlled package!
- Purple Sweet Potatoes
- Teeny Tiny Apples
-
- Another win for portion and carb control while still getting your fruit in. I also love this food, the kids, so much less food waste.
- Salad Kits - I don’t recommend living and breathing based on calories; I like to look at calories and ingredients. However, if you are tracking your food, calories may matter more to you! Love pairing this with a premade protein for an easy meal!
- Mediterranean Salad - 100 calories and made with EVOO, so it’s my winner for the healthiest salad kit.
- Dill Chopped Salad - 130 calories/serving
- Sweet Chili Mango - 130 calories/serving
- Barbecue & Black Pepper Toscano - 140 calories/serving
- Southwest Chopped - 150 calories/serving
- Avocado Ranch - 170 calories/serving
- Miso Crunch - 170 calories/serving
- Pizza Salad - 200 calories/serving
- Lentils & Edamame - are great sources of plant-based protein!
- High Protein Tofu - I buy this a few times a year to enjoy tofu. I literally will not cook tofu if I don’t have it. Who wants to spend hours draining their tofu? Not me, you don’t have to with this!
- Baby beets
- Pre cut veggies - butternut squash fries, stir fry veggies (so much better than frozen), zucchini noodles, veggie blend, and mirepoix
- All fruit, but especially jicama and dates as they can be harder to find elsewhere!
- Sauerkraut & fermented Kimchi - so good for gut health!

Healthy Trader Joe's Grain & Bread Section
I might be in the minority here, but I actually don't love any of TJ's regular bread options. I don't think they have a great selection of just regular whole wheat bread that doesn't have 8 million things added to it. For example, they carry Ezekiel bread, which is popular but not my favorite. I think soy protein should come from edamame, not bread. It's my opinion, not a hard and fast rule! But I do love their sourdough and some of the other products. They also have some low-sugar cereals, which I buy for the kids sometimes! But, for grown-ups, I would call cereal more of a dessert or snack than a "healthy item."
- Sourdough
- Whole wheat pita
- Almond flour tortillas
- Whole wheat English muffins
- Rolled oats
- Rolled oats with ancient grains and seeds
- Instant oats - unsweetened
- Instant oats with flax
