Good morning, friends! Happy Friday!!!! I know you guys love the day recap posts so let’s start with a little recap of yesterday:
I woke up around 630am and got busy posting yesterday’s Healthy Creamy Chicken Quinoa Casserole recipe. Then I was behind on scheduling out all my social messages for the yogurt peanut butter bars and the casserole so I did that. I use co-schedule, I freaking love them for making my life so much easier.
While I was working I ate a protein bar and drank half cup of black coffee. I knew I was going to run so I didn’t want anything too heavy. Around 9:15 I headed out for a run. (Recycled photo.)
Here is the funny thing, I thought my run was going to be TERRIBLE. I hadn’t gotten a run in since, uh, I don’t know at least the last couple of weeks. In my workouts, I’ve been feeling like my cardio fitness level has been sub par so I thought running was going to be terrible. I expected to have to stop a lot and was kind of just dreading it. I hated the thought of running so much I actually asked Mr. Hungry if I should sign up for a gym with spin and just give up running for a while. Then I got out there and did it, and you know what? It wasn’t that bad. In fact, I made it two miles without stopping, then I took quick breathers around miles 2 and 3. The best part? I felt good enough to conquer the hill that usually kills me at a pace of 8minute miles.
It’s runs like those that remind me why I’m addicted to running. I love getting to ride that endorphin high all morning after a good run! Post workout refuel –>
1 egg with 1/2 cup egg whites plus a van’s waffle with peanut butter and banana slices. I also ate the rest of the banana while waiting for my eggs to cook. Then, I worked on some freelance writing pieces until I was hungry for lunch around 1 pm. For lunch I had leftover One Pan Pizza Spaghetti Squash, I seriously can not wait to share the recipe with you it’s DELICIOUS!
After lunch, I started this post, then I made my way through email land. Around 3 pm I got hungry again so I had a peanut butter yogurt bar, so delish!
Then I continued through email and to do list land until 4 pm when I left to walk Nala. When I got back I threw in some maple cinnamon roasted sweet potatoes into the oven then got back to work. I also got a little snacky so I had some carrots. I jumped on a Hungry Hobby RD consult call at 5:30 pm and it ran over a little bit. So, instead of eating the salad with cod I had planned I literally ate a handful of sweet potatoes off the pan. Then I went up to change and get ready for the adjunct faculty meeting I had to go to. I had just enough time to eat the rest of the spaghetti squash + leftover sausage. There is no way I had time to dig into a salad like I planned, but I didn’t want to wait and be starving when I got home. When I got home I had 4 or 5 prunes (there was a really cool recent study suggesting they may help with bone health, something I’m always concerned about since I had amenorrhea for so long) and then made a natural calm drink. I also took my fish oil and GLA with a few bites of cottage cheese. (PS I do not recommend purchasing natural calm on Amazon, I’ve heard horror stories about the product potentially being fake. I buy mine at Sprouts.) I finished this post while I drank it. I ended up heading upstairs to get ready for bed around 9:45 pm. Dear Nala: thank you for waking up at 1 am to go to the bathroom, that was a pleasure.
Coffee Date Stories:
There are so many random tidbits here and there I’ve wanted to tell you guys about so I figured I might as well word vomit them all at you guys at once? Okay? Are you ready? Be sure to word vomit back what is going on in your life.
Big Deals
– The launch of my corporate wellness programs and fitness facility support on my website. These are things I’ve been thinking about for a long time, I’m so happy I’ve finally gotten it going!
– I finally scheduled professional photos to be taken.
– Three of our bridal party members are getting married (two of my bridesmaids and one of Mr. Hungry’s groomsmen)! That means I’ve got a fun year ahead of visits, showers, bachelorette parties, and weddings! I am dying and bursting with joy at the same time I’m so excited, I literally can not wait. Another one of my bridesmaids is pregnant, so excited for her too! Apparently, the guys that were in our wedding party move faster because two of them have babies already! It’s crazy to see how fast everything moves!
I got my hair done, and it’s finally blonde not weirdly yellow like it’s been my whole life. #fakeblonde problems
I couldn’t believe it when my friend Megan took me by surprise and made me cry a little when she posted this.
Moments of Agony
Funny story, I actually left half the stuff I bought at Target, I called them but they can’t seem to find it. I’m sure I didn’t leave it in the car because I walked the cart over to the basket area. Please tell me I’m not the only one that has done this?
I ordered True Lemon packets, 500 of them, only to find they were unsweetened. If I wanted lemon flavor I would squeeze lemon into my water. Ugh.
Embarrassing myself on facebook live every week.

Realizing rising estrogen levels and holiday indulgence is not a great combination for weight or body fat percentage. More on that when I give an update to my post about finally overcoming amenorrhea post.
The comments, I know some of you have had trouble commenting. It should be fixed soon, thank you for letting me know!
Books I’ve Read
A few months ago I read (okay I listened to it on audible) 5 Love Languagesbook, it was amazing. I highly recommend it for everyone. It’s focused on marraiges, but as my buddy says, you can use it to know your friends, family, and employees as well. Turns out my hubby and I speak almost the same love languages. My top was quality time and my close second was acts of service. Mr. Hungry was all about the acts of service. So now, when he asks me to get him a glass of water, I try not to think to myself “I’m not your female slave you get it yourself.” It doesn’t always work though, that’s the result of being raised only by single females (Mom and Grandma) and being an only child. You can take the quiz here to find out your profile, super interesting
I also read A Dog’s Purpose, which now makes me think I know what Nala is thinking all the time.
During Christmas, I read Blueby Danielle Steele. I picked it up randomly at CVS while waiting for prescriptions and it was really good. However, the back of the book didn’t exactly let on the book would include a sub story line about the charges brought against priests in the Catholic Church. Which of course set in right about the time I was sitting and waiting for mass start on Christmas eve. Given that it was a fictional story I actually thought it portrayed some of the events that actually happened in a fair light. It was definitely a really good read, but not if that is something that might be a trigger for you.
Speaking of picking up books I didn’t know what was about, I downloaded and read 50 Shades of Grey. It was on this list of books that are going to be made into a movie (so was A Dog’s Purpose), I was just working my way down the list people, not prepared for THAT! When I told Mr. Hungry he burst out laughing, how could I not know? I don’t know apparently I live under a rock, well not anymore. Have you read it? Don’t lie.
Stuff I Love:
I really want to get an instant pot, but I also want a spiralizer. I ended up purchasing a Green Pan at Target instead. I think Mr. Hugry might lose his mind if another old pan fills the house with smoke. What annoys your spouse the most?
Mr. Hungry told me I don’t do all the things most girls do. I think he was referring to making Christmas cards and decorating. I took it to mean I should, after a billion seasons, start watching The Bachelor. Now, I’m officially hooked on trash TV, it’s like a train wreck you can’t look away from. Where do they find these people?
I found a bunch of new podcasts I’m loving: the Bitch Bible, PaleoOMG, and Simple Pin Media (so freaking helpful) – what podcasts are you loving?
That’s it friends, Happy Friday! Tell me everything you would tell me if we had coffee this morning! (or if you are reading this after, let’s say 12 pm on then wine.)

I’ve had A Dog’s Purpose on my list after seeing all the previews for the movie. There’s nothing I love more than a good audiobook while on a run, so I’ll have to add it to my list!

You are so not alone on leaving things in the cart. I’ve left 12-packs of soda, milk jugs, and so many other items in my cart by accident. On another note, I love your hairstyle! It almost makes me want to go blond! Happy Wednesday!
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
bahahahaha OMG YOU ARE MY FAVORITE! First because you validated my leaving stuff in the cart and second because you love my hair, this is literally the first time I’ve liked it too!
