Good Sunday to everyone out there, this week’s challenge doesn’t seem like much of a “healthy habit” at first. Actually though, research shows that spending time with pets can lower stress levels and improve mood and even overall health. Often times I get home from work and I’ve got a million things to do, before I know it I’m climbing into bed and here comes Missy dragging one of her toys in her mouth up onto the bed with me. Luckily Paul is a little better at spending time with her immediately when he comes home, but still. This week for my sanity and for her happiness we will be playing and cuddling at least 15 minutes a day no matter what. Don’t have any pets? Spending 15 minutes in nature (bird watch or take a walk) or relaxing listening to nature sounds. Just watching fish swim around in a tank on a screen has even been linked to lower blood pressure in some studies. We will recap next Monday, let me know if you will be participating!
As far as posting daily eats I’m definitely torn as to whether I’m going to stick with the weekly format or do daily posts. Right now the weekly format feels more “right” because I don’t have much going on in the fitness department do to my low back/hip injury. In the mean time you can also check out my instagram (@hungryhobby) and twitter (Kelli Shallal @hungryhobby) to see how well I’m sticking to my meal plans or see what an RD eats (this week is going to be crazy so who know what’s going to happen!) I usually use my meal plan as a guide but let it be flexible too to allow for life’s unexpectancies.
Groceries
I didn’t do so good on my plan to “only get stuff for green juice,” but I did only go to one store in under 30 minutes so thats good. The fact is I love grocery shopping and I spend way to much time on it (and sometimes money). I did a lot better this week for time management purposes!

Fitness Plans
This weekend was pretty good, yesterday was the best day since I got injured. Almost no pain at all in the hip or pack except for when standing for long periods of time. Still going for an MRI on Monday though…. in the mean time I’ve got a few more upper body/abs workouts…
