The alarm went off this morning at the uncool hour of 4:20am, I got up and started stretching to wake up a bit and so began the internal debate. I could work out after work, yes that would be the last thing I would want to do when I got home but it would be better than now. In the end it was looking forward to how good I would feel being done with my workout before my day started that pushed me to go. Today was run day and I had a new-to-me treadmill workout to try anyways!
I basically did this treadmill workout from carrotsncake.com but I only did 6.0 for the five minute warm up and 6.0 not a sprint to finish it off. I hit the foam roller and left sweaty and feeling super good!
Whenever I workout in the early morning before work I try prepare the night before to make things as easy as possible on me for the next day. I make my breakfast and lunch ahead of time and I also set up the coffee pot so all I have to do is press on. Yesterday I thought I was being clever throwing one of these coffee packs I stoled from the hotel in for the morning.
However it of course came out way way way to watered down because I put way to much water in it because those coffee filter packs are intended for a tiny coffee pot. #frugalfail
My breakfast on the other hand was a total success…. first bowl of pumpkin overnight oats, heated for two minutes and topped with walnuts, cranberries, and a half of a banana. Even better it held me over all morning no problem.
It was delicious, but I think I may have perfected the recipe in tomorrow mornings batch so I promise to share soon!
Lunch was eaten by my lonesome because I’m too shy to go to the lunch room and meet anyone. Pathetic right? I know, but in my defense I did have like a million emails and blogs to catch up on since last week. The salad looks kind of blah in the picture, but it was actually really good. It had last nights grilled chicken and a chopped up date in it. In retrospect, to make it prettier I should have chopped up the chicken before adding it to the salad, but that required time I didn’t have this morning.
It was followed up by a strawberry nonfat chobani yogurt topped with the other half of my banana from breakfast.
Lunch held me over until 4pm ish when I started downing water, by the time I got off work at 5 I knew that I had at least an hour drive home and decided I couldn’t wait till dinner. I grabbed a semi crushed granola bar still in my purse from our honeymoon trip. The poor little bar was definitely smashed and had been through a lot but it tasted good and it did the trick!
When I got home I quickly whipped up a batch of green juice for Paul and I. I prefer to drink my green juice first thing after a workout in the morning (see juice recipes, my juicer review, and my thoughts about juice in general in this post), but there is only so much that can be done before work. This is because getting up at 4:00 instead of 4:20 would just be too crazy right? Well, according to Paul he is never waking up in the “fours” not for anything. While I’m sad he won’t be with me for the car ride to the gym, I can’t really argue… getting up at four is crazy… but 4:20 is totally doable…
Dinner was made by Paul (AGAIN) yes that two nights in a row, I took care of microwaving the side dishes though. On the menu de Shallals we had baked salmon, shrimp (with sirracha), brown rice, and broccoli. It was super delicious, Paul has always been a good cook but now he is becoming a healthy amazing cook and I’m loving it.
Dessert was one of these kona caramels…
…. and maybe a few of these…
Yes tomorrow is Wednesday and then it’s Thanksgiving, I’m loving the super short week… makes the post vacation blues a little easier to deal with thats for sure!
