Seeking refuge on the treadmill due to excess heat or black ice doesn’t have to be boring, try one of these 23 Boredom Busting Treadmill Workouts and even get faster!
Have I told you guys that Mr. Hungry LOVES running in the heat? He cuts himself off at 100 degrees, but only because he thinks that is the safe move. If it were up to him he would be out there running. Personally, I can’t stand running in the heat (normally I love the heat), I’ll take a sweaty treadmill workout in AC over temps above 80 any day! So if you are like me and seeking refuge from the heat on a treadmill check out this list of awesome boredom busting treadmill workouts. If you are like Mr. Hungry, please stay well hydrated and wear a road ID in case you pass out.
My #1 Tip To Get Faster
To those of you who look at these workouts and think you could never run that fast, to you I say, guuuuuurrrrrlllll I’ve been there. Running did not come natural to me, there were a lot of things about it I wish I would have known. To be totally honest, for the first two years of running I was happy if I hit 6.0 for even 10 seconds. Now, you will notice that 6.0 is really my easy recovery base pace, but it took a LONG time to get there.
What I did was take workouts I thought I couldn’t do and used the same interval scheme but with lower mile per hours. Each time I did the workout I would slowly push myself a little more and more until I got the workout up to what it had originally been. So if the workout was intervals 6.0 6.3 and 6.5 I would do 5.0 5.3 and 5.5 the first time, then 5.1, 5.4 and 5.6 the second time, and so on, until I could do the full workout. Give it a try, it will work, after a few months you will be faster!
