Hello! Look who finally got her hair done!
I recommend booking a hair appointment before you even move if you are moving states. I waited way too long, and I felt like the results were just okay. Not as blonde as usual and kind of chunky looking, but the girl was super nice and didn't charge an outrageous amount. Luckily, I have an appointment with Brad when I go back to Arizona over spring break.
Last week was CRAZY. We got the weirdest stomach flu ever. If you've been following, you know I didn't get the stomach flu or likely norovirus the last three times the family got the stomach flu or likely norovirus. I honestly don't remember throwing up that much as a kid, either. I looked it up, and apparently, there are some people who are resistant to 70% of Norovirus strains. So, I was curious if I would get this one, and I kind of did. I got really nauseous and was dry heaving, but I never had any throw-up or anything else like the family did. I did end up taking the kids into the peditrician because it was on and off for like a week, apparently there is a flu A strain going around doing this. I didn't test my kids (it doesn't change the treatment protocol), but several kids with similar symptoms in KJ's class did test positive for flu A. So that's .... fun. You know what else is fun?
I definitely never had that problem in Arizona. The mechanic said something about fox urine as a deterrent. Does anyone else have ideas? We can't put traps in the garage. It's not safe for the littles.
This week, I'm playing catch-up as much as I can, but I'm also trying to spend some time with family as Mr. Hungry's aunt and cousin are in town for dance auditions at SMU and staying with us. And this weekend we will celebrate my nephew's birthday, so lots of fun!
Before we do the Friday's Favorite thing, don't forget a new meal plan is now live in the Library of Resources! (If you are an HH subscriber and have trouble accessing it, please watch this video.)
Valentines Day
I got the kids some books and the little electronic popper toy that was a BIG hit! I feel like they get enough candy and useless crap at school, so I usually try to do books and something small (<$10 bucks).
I got to go to KK's V-day party, but not KJ's, this time! I know they both had a blast. The only issue we had was that KJ's was on Wednesday and KK's on Thursday. It was really hard for KK to understand that he would be the next day when Big Brother came home with a bag full of goodies. But we got through it!
For myself, I replaced my AirPods, which I lost at the gym, with Beats Solo, which is on a significant discount right now, about half off! Heads up, though, if you wear makeup, I recommend getting black and not a light color. Learned that the hard way and had to exchange the pair I bought after wiping them off. I thought the light pink color was so cute but apparently not practical at all.
Seafood Superbowl
With having the stomach bug... I totally forgot about the Super Bowl. We ended up having a seafood Superbowl, and it was so delicious!
Beauty Favorites
I shared this on IG, so I wanted to share it here, too! I picked up a couple of things to try from Sephora and will report back how I like them!
But I also shared this list of non-toxic beauty favorites on IG. Really, I utilize both natural and conventional products, but I always say I try to do as much natural stuff as possible but draw the line at scorpions (in Arizona, insect spraying is a must) and skincare. I want my skincare to be effective. I'm going to let you know how the natural retinol compares to regular retinol when I finish up the Paula retinol I just bought! Research shows they are equally as effective, but who knows!
Food Favorites This Week
Wanted to share this realistic lunch I sent to school when KJ's tummy was still a little rocky after the stomach flu.
We also leaned on other carbs because the kids didn't have much of an appetite.
Mr. Hungry and I had a nice date night once we felt better! Honestly, I can't wait to go back to this place!
I finally meal-prepped some more healthy waffles as well!
And some random other meals we ate this week:
5 Ingredient Pasta with Italian Sausage - one of the most popular recipes on the blog! I usually add spinach, but I forgot!
Notice more calories, carbs, and treats than I've shown in the past? We ate out a lot thanks to the stomach bug and it being hard to plan meals with it coming and going. Also, this month I brought my calories back up to maintenance around 2000-2200 calories. Honestly, at first, it was hard for me to eat that much after being calorie-deficient and losing baby weight. I relied on more treats until I started working on my carbs and bigger meals. The reason for doing this was to reset metabolic adaptation. My DUTCH test and bloodwork showed great progesterone but low hormone production overall. It also showed some stress adaptation, which happens from prolonged calorie deficits. It took a couple of weeks, and we had stomach issues in the middle, but I feel so much better. My energy is better, workouts are better, nagging injuries are better, etc. And the best part was I didn't gain any weight, I stayed steady which is what is supposed to happen in maintenance. But sometimes, if you've been in a prolonged deficit, you can have issues with that, so I'm glad that didn't happen to me! I actually have a course coming soon on all this!
Amazon Orders
I ordered a new spray bottle for the baby girl's hair since the boys broke the last one. I like this one better, anyway. Spray bottles make toddler hairstyles so much easier. I also broke down and ordered her a brush set, so I'm not constantly trying to find mine in her room, haha.
I treated myself to some new makeup sponges! I love this set because I use the dark one for dark contouring, light for highlighting, and medium for foundation and cover-up! I've ordered it every six months or so for a while now!
I
I also liked these socks so much I ordered another set.
Last but not least, I re-ordered wipes. Does anyone else use two different kinds? We use the Honest wipes for daily clean-up and for the boys. They are just bigger and can handle more messy situations! We use the water wipes just in the baby girls' room as actual baby wipes.

Books
I finished Lady of Shadows, book two in the Lady of Darkness series. The book premise is so similar to Throne of Glass that I'm enjoying it, but not addicted. I put together a list of my all-time favorite romance and romance series; Lady of Darkness did make the list but at number 9 out of 9.
Fitness
On the fitness front, workouts have been rocky. Time just hasn't aligned, but I was happy to do what I could! PS. I'm obsessed with these Amazon leggings.
