Hello friends! Happy Saturday. This Friday's favorites post is going up a little late! But better late than never, I suppose! This week has been just one of those weeks. My new update went live on my site, and it required a lot of attention. On that backend of the blog, I'd been running on the same framework for seven years, so it was well overdue time for an update! You may notice a slightly different look now on my homepage, but for the most part, the site is the same! But, on the backend, there were a lot of updates. I also published a new resource in the Library of Resources, my Trader Joe's Healthy Shopping List. This post and document took a lot more time than I had planned for, but I'm so excited about it, as I think you guys will love it! Many of you have already told me you printed it!
I also published/updated my Hungryroot Review. On the back end of Hungry Hobby, I'm going to take the plunge into something kind of big for me and a little time-consuming. I'll give you a hint: it's all about hormones and metabolism. An area I'm very passionate about! So, it's likely that there won't be as many new blog posts up here at HH. But, as always, I'll continue to create resources, post meal plans, and pop in for Friday Favorites (even if that's on Saturday.)
As promised, a new meal plan is now in the Library of Resources. If you have trouble accessing it, please watch this two-minute video.
Hungry Hobby On The Gram:
Here are a few things I shared on social in the last couple of weeks! My favorite was when I tried the 72-gram protein chicken nuggets from... Taco Bell. Yes, you read that right.

Dallas Artic Blast
You know I had to share pictures of the artic blast Dallas experienced last week! Unfortunately, we left a lot of our snow gear in Flagstaff with my Aunt, but we still had fun! My Aunt even offered to send some of the boots and gloves to us at the beginning of the week, and I told her no because everyone says the snow never sticks. Well, it definitely stuck! And this meme was entirely accurate.
The kids had a blast and two snow days after a 2.5-week break!
I rushed to the bakery to stock up before the winter blast, only to use not one thing you see in the photo below. Not one thing. Okay, the kids ate the pumpkin bread, but that was not the case so far.
High Protein Costco Find
We tried these meatballs from Costco, and I gave them a 10/10. Added them to my Healthy Costco Shopping List!
Kindergarten Lunch
His meals basically all looked like this this week!
Random Meals, I Took Pictures Of
It was Mr. Hungry's birthday weekend two weeks ago, so we grilled a bunch of chicken and burgers for everyone. My MIL also made his favorite Quiche, Lorraine. We spent most of the week eating up the leftovers, and the next week, we ate Minestrone soup most of the week.
Phone Stand
I was actually influenced to buy this on TikTok (RIP TT) and loved it so much that I found it on Amazon. It works pretty damn well as advertised. I bought another one because I wanted to keep one in my car at all times, and it has always been hard to find a permanent phone holder. The only spot that anything sticks to is in front of the screen; this is nice because I can remove the stand easily when needing the backup camera.
And speaking of Amazon... I bought two boys gifts this week:
- T-Rex Car Garage for KJ's bestie, who LOVES cars and dinos. We've had this toy for two years now and LOVE it.
- Airplane Launcher
Fitness - SI Joint Rehab
If you've been following along, fitness has felt like an uphill battle since we moved to Texas in August. I blame stress, but I've also been doing this new core circuit to help with my SI joint, which likes to pinch me randomly. My chiropractor wrote it specifically for me, but I'll share it below because it's really been helping! Although the dead bugbears, I think, are just in there to kill me.
I mostly do them as workout primers, but my chiro said I can do it as a workout finisher, too. The circuit takes 20-25 minutes, so the investment time is big, but it pays off. I won't lie; right now, if I stack that with a normal lifting day, I clock 90 minutes in the gym, which is way more than I've ever spent or what I think is typically necessary. But I keep reminding myself that I deserve this investment because I birthed three babies. Whatever it takes to come back from that, I deserve it. And this SI joint issue is 100% related to pregnancy. It's not my normal SI joint issues that I overcame, it's on the other side and instead of aching or burning it just randomly pinches me. Honestly, it's been happening for years, but it usually goes away after pregnancy. This time, it kind of stuck around. And then, recently, it got worse. Just another thing, haha
In addition to this circuit, I also had to change the side I held baby girl on and start getting up and down from the floor with the other leg (using my right leg instead of my left.) But I'm happy to report it's working. I actually feel mostly normal for the first time in months. It's a relief. I'm feeling way better, even if I hate those dead bugs with every fiber of my being! Essentially, he said that I'd been doing the right stuff, but it wasn't hard enough. I need to systematically progress what I've been doing so the stability I've worked on sticks. In addition to this, I do one mini baby run (also not loving that, but it's actually helping my back), two upper days, and two lower days. I'm limiting split leg exercises for now or keeping them to one exercise per training session (lunges, single leg exercise, etc). And then, of course, this circuit means I'm doing core every damn day. I should do it on my off days, but I haven't. But, I should.
