Living that bump life! Poor baby #2 has so many fewer pregnancy pictures than KJ did. Isn’t that the way it always goes, though?
You guys, this week flew by. I literally can’t believe I’m typing up this Friday Favorites right now. I don’t even know where the time went or what I did this week. Crazy right, pregnancy insomnia will make you feel a little out of thought, that’s for sure!
This weekend KJ has a hair cut scheduled, it’s not his first hair cut, but it’s his first hair cut in probably 6 months. Mr. Hungry was buzzing it, but now he doesn’t like the buzzer anymore, so we’re going to Walker Hair for a scissor cut! Other than that, it should be a pretty laid-back weekend, I hope! What are your plans?
I have lots of fun stuff to share with you so let’s get to it!
Around the blog this week:
Favorites
A couple of Sprouts Farmers Market finds! As a Sprouts Partner, I receive coupons to try new things each month. I usually share what we like on IG stories, but I wanted to share them here too this month! If this is of interest to you, I’ll keep sharing here. Let me know! (I typically just share what we liked enough to actually purchase.)
Coconut Bliss Mint Chocolate Galactica
I’ll be honest, the first few bites of this, I wasn’t sure, but then it grew on me. I think I’m just used to that artificial mint taste in ice cream (coconut bliss uses all clean ingredients like real peppermint oil), but this tastes so FRESH and delicious. After a couple of bites, I was hooked!
French Onion Cashew and Almond Dip
Mr. Hungry and I devoured this dip with some kettle chips! I also ate some with raw carrots and celery, which was a delicious, healthier snack! #veggiesforthewin I’m all about using dips to get more veggies in (during all time in life weight loss to pregnancy!)
Spare Bathroom Remodel
We have a few things to do left to finish up this bathroom, but for the most part, the guys finally finished it! You can see the whole process on IG under my bathroom remodel highlights @hungryhobbyRD)
New YouTube Video!
I filmed the food portion of this video back in December and filmed the intro at the end of January. I’m so glad to have FINALLY published it! It’s one of our favorite recipes, so it’s fun to see it come to life in video format, but man, it’s hard to carve out the time to edit and publish the videos!
Around the web:
- Journal Article Describes How the Effectiveness of FAM Has Been Misrepresented <— There was a lot of discussion about this after I shared this article on IG! Lots of great discussions which basically boiled down to the effectiveness of FAM have been downplayed for many reasons (all listed in the article) to the same extent the side effects of birth control are downplayed. Overall, as women, we aren’t being presented with the full scope of the risk and benefits of all the birth control options out there, and it’s concerning, to say the least.
Fitness
Fitness has been up and down this week. On Friday, I did a lower body workout from E & E that I had done the week before, but I was trying to go faster this time and I felt my lower back kind of strain. I stupidly decided to finish the workout and then hopped on a phone call for a consult that lasted almost an hour. Sitting after feeling anything in my lower back is usually a recipe for disaster for me, and that’s exactly what happened. I had to take 3 days off and, to be totally honest, was in a decent amount of pain. However, it was a familiar pain, the kind you know will go away within a couple of days, and I knew how to treat (minimize sitting and straining/walking/lifting KJ, etc.)
It sucked, and I almost thought to myself, maybe I should give up working out now? But, I got back on the horse with an upper-body workout on Tuesday, which felt great. The walk didn’t feel so great, though, with lots of Braxton hicks and some real feeling contractions plus pelvic tenderness. I think I’ve learned I need to get the walk with Nala in the morning. I think by the end of the day, my pelvic floor is like um, ya, no, we’ve been holding this baby and you up all day, no extra work, thanks.
Since I was on modified bed rest with KJ at this point, I definitely underestimated how difficult it can be to keep moving in the third trimester, but I’m doing my best to do it safely!
