Hello Friends! Today’s post should be called Friday Catch Up. I have so many things I want to catch you guys up on, but they don’t fit into a typical Friday Favorites blog post. So today’s post will be a bit different from the norm.
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! We did not take Baby K out tricker treating, but I did dress him up in his Daddy’s first Halloween outfit! You can vote on my IG stories (@hungryhobbyrd) who wore it better (Mr. Hungry on the left and Baby K on the right.)
WTE? Meal Plans
The new meal plan is ready for subscribers! But, also, if you haven’t checked it out in a while, I’ve been making some changes to my meal plan offerings. No official announcement yet, but I’ve been adding things like instant meal plan downloads. Check it out here!
Weaning Breastfeeding Has Symptoms
We were down to one feed before me leaving for FNCE, and we were both ready to be done. Baby K was refusing to feed half the time anyway, and I wanted to eat some cheese for the first time in almost a year (among other reasons.)
On Sunday & Monday of the conference, I started to feel super dizzy. I kind of thought I had too much to drink (networking events) or may be related to having the first period, so I sat down a few times to catch my bearings and pressed on.
However, I was still getting symptoms when I got home, mostly just dizziness, and increased anxiety. At first, I thought it was lack of sleep, and then I started to get concerned about mastitis (I couldn’t understand why I felt so weird.)
I was researching mastitis, which I didn’t have any symptoms except feeling “bad” or dizzy, and that’s when I stumbled upon articles about the physiological tole weaning breastfeeding can have. One woman said she got up and faceplanted, almost breaking her nose. WHAT?!?!?!?
It makes sense, hormones are changing, and that takes a toll on your body. However, I’m going to file that under the “what no one tells you about having kids” section in my brain.
Workouts
Man, I’ve worked out twice ALL WEEK! I worked out on Friday before I left, and Monday, I was at the conference, and that’s it. I’m ready to get back into the swing of things next week! I did want to share this workout I did in the hotel gym that I liked. I warmed up on the Stairmaster then did the following workout (which I put into a graphic for y’all.)

Ordering a Turkey from Butcher Box is one actionable item you can take right now to make your Thanksgiving meal a little bit healthier for yourself and the environment. I ordered a Turkey to shoot Thanksgiving leftover recipes with, and my MIL ordered one to serve on Thanksgiving!

Kitchen Remodel
Let me start by saying, so far, we’re very happy with our contractor. That being said, no kitchen countertops for three weeks, week three starting next week, is brutal. Oh, and did I mention we don’t have a sink either? I have no idea what Mr. Hungry ate while I was gone, but there was nothing in the fridge when I got back.
I went to Trader Joe’s and got a few of my favorite no-cook staples I thought I would share here:
- Turkey Meatloaf
- Meat Lasagna
- Vegetable Lasagna
- Turkey Corn Dogs (Mr. Hungry)
- Microwavable Veggies (broccoli, asparagus, Brussels)
- Salad packs
- Fresh fruit for Baby K
- Coconut and Cashew Yogurt for Baby K
- Eggs
- Pre-made salads
We also bought Evol breakfast burritos from Costco, and we’ve been making smoothies since the blender is relatively easy to cleanout. Big thanks to my MIL for making Baby K a batch of baby meatloaf muffins!

Are there supplements that you can take to help your body adjust to the physiological changes now that you are weaning? I hope that you feel better soon and that the worst symptoms are behind you
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
That’s a good question! I’m guessing that seed cycling would help a little!
Saguren Redyrs says
I’ve never heard of seed cycling. I did a quick Google search and it looks really interesting. Thanks for introducing me to something new to learn. I wonder if it will also help with males for testosterone and their hormones as well?
