The alarm rang this morning at 4:40am (yep still in the four’s) so I didn’t get to the gym till 5:15am. I did an arms bicep/tricep focused workout with 30 second cardio intervals in between that looks pretty much like this one.
It takes me forever to work up a sweat even after intense cardio, so strength training can some times leave me feeling a little unsatisfied with my workout. I’d like to think this is because I’m super conditioned from running but I think thats wishful thinking. Anyways I added a 1000 meter row to the end of the workout and that set my shoulders on fire, success! I came home and once I was ready for work I warmed up the most glorious batch of overnight oats I have EVER had. Let’s just say the combination of pumpkin butter and almond butter is a match made in heaven. Creamy, cinnamony, pumpkin goodness….
I filled up my mug with some yummy coconut caramel crunch coffee from Kauai Coffee and was out the door…
For lunch I reheated some of yesterday’s salmon leftovers (doused in sirracha) which were delicious….
and ate a bag of baby carrots…
I worked away, switched clinic locations and the time flew by. By the time 4:30 rolled around my stomach was growling, so I ate a chobani yogurt while I finished up a few things for the long weekend.
After work I spent some time helping an employee out with some diet advice so I didn’t get home until 6pm or so. Even though I had to work today, I almost didn’t mind because the traffic was so light it was amazing my normal 45 minute commute took 20 minutes, it was awesome. When I did get home, I got right to sautéing some Brussels sprouts and jalapeno chicken sausage combined with swiss laughing cows. This meal is a staple in our house, easiest 3-ingredient meal ever, thanks Tina @carrotsncake! Again doused in sirracha… you seeing a theme?
The same dessert as yesterday definitely happened, like immediately after I finished my dinner. Whoops forgot about all the Thanksgiving treats tomorrow… oh well I can’t resist caramel it’s impossible.
After dinner I made a clean eating sweet potato cassarole for tomorrow from another favorite blog I read. I probably ate almost a whole sweet potato in the process too… whoops again… man I guess I’m starting the Thanksgiving feast early!
Soooooo…..I’m super psyched to run the Turkey Day Trot Sponsored by Lifetime in downtown Phoenix tomorrow. Right now I’m registered for a 5K, which I’ve actually never done before (unless you count obstacle courses) so that will be nice. Or if they let me, I’ll upgrade to the 10K and while I won’t be going for a PR at such a lax event I’d still like to see if my speed has “naturally” increased at all. I’m glad I signed up and committed to the run, even if its location is rather inconvenient I know it will be fun. I know that I would work out regardless of whether I did the run or not, but races are what keeps someone running… especially fun ones so I’ll be happy to do whatever distance. Plus I like the idea of kicking off the holiday season with fun fitness AND good food. I’ll try to race recap tomorrow but if I don’t I’ll see you Friday and have a safe wonderful Happy Thanksgiving!
