Who dis happy boy?
Dear Baby K, you are one silly boy, you certainly love to spit and blow raspberries!
You also LOVE to kick those little chunky legs. You are still my little “happy feet.” The bouncer is one of your favorite places to be. You’ll happily bounce in there while watching Mommy cook or clean in the kitchen for as long as you aren’t tired or hungry. We had to break down and put away your swing because you shake the entire thing by kicking those happy feet.
You also like the big boy section of your stroller, I mean what isn’t to love? The Bob is basically a lazy boy recliner for babies! We haven’t done any running yet though. I always bring all the toys with us in case you get sick of the stroller but you hardly ever need them, including “lion” or “sun” as daddy calls him, tweet tweet, birdy, and your favorite light up toy.
At your doctor’s appointment, you were 27 inches so still 60th percentile for height, a long baby! Your feet hang over the stroller and extend to my knees when you nurse! The doctor was also pleased with your weight gain because you finally gained a few percentile points! At your doctor appointment, you were 14lbs 3 ounces putting you right at the 5th percentile. Tiny but mighty! At least your wardrobe is versatile because you can still wear a few 3-month clothes all the way up to 9-month clothes!
The doctor was happy with your ability to sit, but he said you need more tummy time since you aren’t getting up and rocking on all fours. Instead, when you are on your tummy, you play for about a minute before burying your face in the ground and squealing like a piggy. You would much rather stand or sit than be on your tummy, but we are working on it though! Maybe you’ll be one of those kids that scoot on their bottom instead of crawls. Who knows!
The doctor also referred us to an allergist since Mommy hasn’t been able to introduce anything into her diet yet. We did start you on solids though, and for the most part, you seem to do pretty well with them! Trying new foods with you has been fun! We are just doing mashed up foods and purees for now. So far we’ve tried rice cereal, carrots, mashed avocado, and potatoes. We are still nursing 75-80% of the time, about every 2.5-4 hours. You still get a bottle of formula from Daddy at night time before bed.
Two weeks ago we completed the ABC’s of Sleep program from Taking Cara Babies, and since then you’ve been a great sleeper most of the time. We’ve struggled with diaper leaks waking you up recently which we hope will get under control soon. Barring any diaper leaks, you usually sleep 11-12 hours at night with a dream feed. Naps are hit or miss, you typically sleep somewhere between 30 minutes – 2 hours a nap. You love to read books before your naptime, and Mommy loves reading to you!
You have the Easter & Halloween Babies Love books, which are your favorite because you love to grab the chunky flaps! We even took them with us when we went to see your Grandma and Grandpa in California. You did GREAT when traveling! You slept all night but didn’t take great naps. I guess that’s because you wanted to be part of the action. We had a wonderful time in California celebrating your first Easter and Grandma’s Birthday!
You still love your Nala, but your newest friend is surprisingly, my first fur child, Missy. You guys love to roll around on the ground together, and she loves it when you reach out and pet her. It’s pretty entertaining for everyone involved!
This month you became ticklish! The bottom of your feet, your armpits, your tummy, and your neck are all ticklish. I love to tickle you because your laugh is the one thing that can always fill my heart to the top with happiness. You have the BEST laugh! I can’t believe you are already a half of a year old but I’m having so much fun watching you grow, learn, and become a part of this world! I love you, Little Man!
