Baby girl, you are two years old!
What’s crazy is that this is the first time I’ve had a two-year-old without also being pregnant or caring for a newborn. I always wondered how much more I would enjoy toddlerhood without pregnancy in the mix—and it turns out, it’s much more manageable.
And you are so much fun! You’re incredibly talkative. Just like KK at two, you speak in 3–5 word sentences, which always blows me away. It helps you stand your ground—or even win—when you’re disagreeing with your big brothers. You’re also not afraid to go after either of them with the full force of your wrath. For reference here is KK at 2 and KJ at 2.
People always say, “Oh, she has two older brothers—she’ll be tough.” But baby girl, you came out of the womb tough, and having two brothers just amplifies it. Like KJ, you’re not afraid to speak up and hold your own. Like KK, you’re wild, free-spirited, and absolutely love people. I see both your brothers in you, but you're most like your oldest brother.
At two, KK was observant and thoughtful rather than reactive—but you, like KJ, are definitely reactive. The difference? You’re reactive in a very girly way—think throwing yourself on the floor and putting on a full dramatic display during a tantrum.
Now, as a third-time mom, it’s fun to recognize personality traits for what they are, instead of assuming it’s something I did (or didn't do.) You definitely get a more easygoing, less reactive version of Mama than your brothers did—and that’s one of the beautiful perks of being the third child.
I think God knew when your mama was ready for a girl. And He gave me you—full of spice, strength, sweetness, and sass—at just the right time.

Your relationship with your brothers is absolutely hysterical and precious. You and KK go at it like you're the same age and size, even though he’s 20 pounds heavier than you. (Your well-check isn’t until June, so I don’t know your exact percentiles yet.) It makes sense—you're just under two years apart, so you have more disagreements. But KK cares deeply for you. When we’re out and about, he’s always watching out for you. He takes his big brother role seriously and always has his eyes on you.
As for KJ, you can convince him to do just about anything for you—or give you just about anything. Like Daddy, he’s completely wrapped around your little finger. Honestly, you have the whole house wrapped around your fingers and toes. You will absolutely be protected as you grow older, but also, I have no doubt you could take care of yourself and your brothers if needed.
You went to daycare for the first time this week and did so great! You told me not to leave, but once I did, there were zero tears. They said it didn’t even feel like they had a new kid in class because you were so happy to hang out and jump right into the activities. Mama felt a little guilty at first, but after seeing how happy and adjusted you were, I felt a lot better. You’ll go three days a week, and I can already tell you’re going to love the stimulation and new friends.
Daycare asked about potty training because it's so obvious you're ready, but we’re holding off for now. Mama just isn’t ready yet—and since the owners are selling the rental we’re living in, we’ll be moving soon. I’d rather not potty train in the middle of all that. If we were in a more stable living situation, I’d potty train you in a heartbeat. I hope waiting doesn’t come back to bite me!
Another thing I’ve always wondered about is how my pregnancy diet affects toddler pickiness. I tend to eat a lot of plain foods when pregnant and always questioned whether that influenced your brothers’ eating habits. So far, my theory seems to hold up—because you still love food with lots of flavor! The worst thing someone could serve you is something plain. You love spices and bold flavor, sometimes even spicy things.. You’re a great eater, though not always the best breakfast eater. But you finally decided you like milk, so some mornings you’ll drink that instead.
By far, your favorite things to play with are baby dolls and your new barbies. You will sometimes play with your brothers Dinos or monster trucks, but for the most part you love your dolls. You've started to pretend play with them, pretending they are crying or talking. It's flippin adorable. You also love to dress up and you love pink.
Other favorites include:
- Going on walks
- Magnatiles
- Plasma car - she LOVES her plasma car
- Shows: baby bum, you don’t really want to watch anything else.
- Watching videos of yourself
- "Go" ing anywhere.
- Playdoh
- Coloring
- Helping with anything.
- Feeding our 15 year old kitty.
- Bath time
- Swimming - you did great in ISR this year! You cried the first couple weeks but, then you got the hang of it.
- Water table
- Food: applesauce and anything mommy or daddy is eating.
Dislikes:
- Not being able to do something your brothers are doing.
- Being told no.
- When your brother has something you can’t have.
- Chocolate - you aren't really a huge chocolate fan, which cracks me up - your Mama and Goga also prefer caramel.
I thank God every day for the chance to be your mommy. I always say I wanted a third baby, no matter the gender, and I would have been just as happy if you were a boy. But I’m also so incredibly grateful for the chance to be both a girl mom and a boy mom.
Watching you naturally love so many girly things has been such a joy. It’s so fun to witness.
I love you so much and can’t wait to see you grow, thrive, and become your own person this year!
