Today was an pleasantly uneventful day, I got to the office super early like always and starting working away. Like usual I heated up my breakfast around 8am.
I had sweet potato protein pancakes and coffee with a splash of mint chocolate coconut milk. I literally chugged my coffee this morning, maybe it was the less than 6 hours of sleep I got? My breakfast did a FANTASTIC job of holding me over until lunch. I snacked on two cuties around noon and ate lunch around 1pm.
I had a turkey burger and avocado salad which was actually a leftover turkey burger from when we ate the Whole Foods Grill this weekend.
For dressing I mixed together some salsa and non fat greek yogurt, my favorite salad dressing ever!
Lunch also did a great job at holding me over, I only ate half my typical bag of baby carrots on the commute home. Speaking of the commute home…
Changing My Schedule
I recently changed my schedule so that I get in the clinic at 7am and leave by 4pm. (Before I was getting in around 7-730am and leaving around 430pm.) This meant I was getting home around 5:15pm, getting ready for crossfit and snacking on everything in sight before actually going to crossfit form 6-7. By 7pm I wasn’t hungry, I was cranky and tired and felt like by the time I got ready for the next day I didn’t have enough time to do anything I wanted to do but go to bed. Since changing my schedule to a firm 7-4 so many things have changed for the better. Like I spend less time in the car (arriving and leaving earlier shortens the commute from 45 minutes to 25-30 minutes each way). I go to crossfit an hour earlier, so I snack less before the workout and have more energy during it. I feel like I have a little time in the evening to do whatever I want to do without getting stressed. Of course there have been some challenges too. The clinic is open 8-5 and so is our parent organization, so last minute emergencies or meetings happen that I have to deal with. This might mean an extra long day or the possibility of missing a workout. For the most part though, it has been much less stressful and I think its insane how such a small change can really make a difference in my happiness level. Okay back to the rest of the day…
Of course when I got home I snacked on pistachios while I got ready for cross fit.
Back Squats: 33lbs, 53lbs, 63lbs
Front Squats: 15 with 53lbs & 15 with 43lbs
Shoulder to Overhead: 33lb bar
Box Jumps on the tire
KB Swings: 25lb KB
I’m thinking one of my New Years Resolutions will be to RX on any cross fit workout!
Then I came home to this fantastic salmons meal that Paul made. For sides, I just threw some TJ’s broccoli in the microwave, followed by a pre cooked brown rice bowl and we were good to go!
Then I snacked on some Peanut Butter & Chocolate Puppy Chow from the in-laws house… so good… so dangerous….
Now I’m drinking tons of water and having an internal debate with myself about when to workout tomorrow…. 4am or 4pm????? Paul says he will run with me at 4pm, so that could be good motivation….
Have you ever made a small change to your schedule that made all the difference in the world?

Wow your new schedule really shortens the commute! With all the positive perks it sounded like it’s worth the change. I wish I could change my schedule to whatever works best, but it’s not a big deal since I start at 7 and if I’m lucky I will get home at 3 at the earliest and there’s plenty of time to work out.
