Weekend Recap
8 Mile Run
I found a great running group via google and Facebook to run with on Saturday (if your local and want the details let me know!). I needed to go 8 miles (per my half marathon training schedule that I’m being super low key about) and having people to go with definitely motivated me to get up and be out ready to run at the bright hour of 6:30am, that means I got up at 5:30! I used to run that early all the time, as much as I hate getting up that early I love having the whole day ahead of me after! People in the group were doing several different distances from 6 miles to 13 miles, I ended up sticking with the 6 miles group then doing 2 miles on my own. The group leader, Linda, took a picture with me when we parted ways! The miles FLEW by chatting with her!
Looking back I ran quite a bit slower than I usually do on my own, but I actually think that is a really good thing. I need to remember that long slow runs should be long slow runs, they shouldn’t feel like you just finished a hard interval or track workout. I looked back at the last time I ran 8 miles and I was kind of disappointed, I was pretty quick! HOWEVER, that was right before I got injured for 2 years, so I was clearly pushing too hard! Plus I got two “quicker” miles in on my own, so it was perfect!
1 mile – 11:16
2 mile – 10:43
3 mile – 10:27
4 mile- 11:57—-> stopped to walk and turn around
5 mile- 10:46
6 mile- 10:30
7 mile- 9:35
8 mile- 9:52

Coffee Date
Met up with my friend Gillean to have a much needed catch up at a new to us coffee shop, Bergies!
Love when places have Almond Milk Lattes!
Christmas Bucket List Date Night
Complete with Pizza (leftovers picture the next day) from MOD Pizza.
Gelato from Frost (I got the salted caramel which sadly had a weird after taste, luckily Mr. Hungry shared with me his egg nog flavor )
and a TON of walking, like a ton… walking around the mall and local neighborhoods (check out my super nerdy instagram video) to see Christmas lights… we couldn’t get a good picture of us, so I’m solo… I swear the hubby is there, but I totally would walk around the mall during Christmas by myself because it’s so fun!
Christmas Pancakes
I finally got to make them! I didn’t really eat them, pancakes aren’t even my thing… I just REALLY like making them. I love how the batter sizzles and turns into something light and fluffy, I hate that they taste like soggy bread, especially with maple syrup. I know I’m weird… but don’t complain I’ll still make them for you!
Guess What Else….
I got a DSLR! I went with the Canon EOS Rebel T5i based on many recommendations (this one and this one are great reads) I read about it being the most bang for your buck for an affordable set up! The two pictures above were taken with it, in automatic mode, no editing, standard lens. SO. MUCH. TO. LEARN.
Then earlier today I also bought a 50mm f/1.8 STM lens, but admittedly haven’t taken it out of the box yet.
I definitely know what “reading material” I’ll be bringing on the plane…. camera manual! I’m really excited, up until this point I’ve shot with a cannon powershot and my iPhone… so ya…. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty. So far Nala is happy to be a great subject… again unedited, standard lens, automatic mode, .5 seconds after taking it out of the box!
Recent Eats
I know I haven’ been that great at recording my meals like I wanted to be for Mindful December, but in my defense this last week it was all about eating what we had…. so there were QUEST bars, and carrots, and oatmeal and randomness all over the place… I did capture a few meals though….
…. like Duck and Decanter with Mr. Hungry’s Grandma and Mom… a Phoenix MUST!
Oatmeal and coconut peanut butter…. there has been many spoonfuls of coconut pb.
One day I made the ultimate mash up of leftovers, turkey breakfast sausage over a bag of grilled veggies (eggplant and zucchini) the frozen one from TJ’s, and then I threw shredded carrots on top… I don’t know… ha ha!
I made microwaved omelets a few times when I was being super lazy…
and many sweaty protein shakes…
That’s a whole lot of update! Hope your Monday is amazing!
Link Love
You guys know I’m a bit of a blog hoarder, my feed is so full of blogs I can’t even keep them straight. So much good information so many talented people, I’d figure I’d start sharing! PS for you bloggers out there, I’ve been using the WordPress screen to blog for a long time because that allowed me to save my posts in an online format (I needed this when I was working on posts at work during lunch and couldn’t use my computer). I recently went back to Mar’s Edit and it’s made my life so much easier! (No affiliation just a friendly reminder) I can actually store posts like this no problem to publish later on in the week! 🙂 I actually meant to publish this Saturday but there was so much going on it didn’t happen, oh well now you get it today!
