Good morning, friends! On Saturday, HH will be celebrating its 7th birthday. Isn’t that insane? Seven years I’ve been coming to this blog writing posts 4-5 days a week, in the early days, sometimes multiple times a day. I’ve shared over 500 healthy recipes, a cookbook, three years of weekly meal plans, workouts, personal moments and holidays, day to day life, fertility struggles, and the birth of my first baby, just to name a few. So much is recorded here, and it wouldn’t be possible without my awesome readers. (No readers = a diary, not a blog haha)

Thanks to you guys, I wake up every day and get to live out my passion. Recently, a friend asked me what my favorite part of blogging “for a living” was, and I couldn’t pinpoint just one thing.
From recipe development to photography, to writing, to connecting with my readers, I’m incredibly lucky I get to do this for a living. Sure, I’ve worked my tail off, too many late nights, and early mornings to count all to make it work for my family, but I know it’s worth creating this space in internet land.
This year, I thought it would be fun to giveaway the latest gadget rage in my household. I resisted an air fryer for so long, and yet, now, it’s a MUST have appliance. So much so that after my first air fryer broke down after less than a month, I surveyed Instagram and bought this Instant Pot Vortex 4 in 1 air fryer, which has been great!
So, I thought it’d be fun this year to give one away! I feel like it’s one of those things you want to try but aren’t sure if one more kitchen appliance is needed. If you won one, though, why not, right? Enter to win below!

I enjoy the recipe portion of the blog. I like looking for new, fun recipes to break up the monotony of my normal meals

I like the day in the life posts along with your grocery haul posts. I prefer the diary type posts instead of the posts where you are “selling” a specific product. I also prefer the typed blog posts to when there are youtube videos embedded into the post.

I love that you are reviewing home food services. How about reviewing some restaurant chains – ie what is the :healthiest thing to order if I find myself at Chipotle or Applebees or Red Lobster for example or should I just forget them completely!
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
I’m so glad you are liking those reviews! I love that idea of what to order! I’m going to put that on my post idealist but probably won’t get around to it till next year when hopefully eating at restaurants is a thing for everyone again (some states are quarantined now, some are not, some people eat out, some don’t feel safe etc..)

I love the recipes. I like that they lean towards the healthier side. I would however, like to see some newer dinner recipes that are a little different and do not require a ton of non standard spices to go buy.
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
Love this! I was actually just thinking I need to get some new quick dinner recipes up on the blog. I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of muffins, desserts, and TJ’s recipes recently! By back to school time I’ll definitely turn my focus back to easy dinners! Don’t forget to check out the recipe index though, you can filter by 30 minutes or less and dinner for some ideas!

Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
Yes! That’s why I’ve hesitated to put very many air fryer recipes up, not everyone has one. Lots of people have IP’s now though! You are right, I haven’t done any IP recipes in a while! I’ll get on that, in the meantime, here is a link to my IP recipe index: https://hungryhobby.net/category/recipes/?fwp_cooking=instant-pot

The types of posts I love the most are the reviews. For instance, your review of the Blue Apron meal delivery kits was interesting because it’s nice to hear an honest appraisal of the pros and cons of these types of products.I really like reading honest reviews of the heavily advertised products or services, whether it’s kitchen appliances, subscription boxes, beauty products, etc., to see if they live up to all they hype before spending my money on them.
I also like the recipes for baked goods that use different types of ingredients to make them a bit healthier. Happy 7th Anniversary to your blog.
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
So glad to hear someone is enjoying the reviews! It’s been fun to do them and I’m glad they were helpful!
