Yeah Happy Friday again! It seems like this week literally FLEW by. In the first Wedding Reception Recap I listed all our vendors and details, so you can find all those details there. Other wedding related posts include: how Paul injured himself trying to make our engagement a surprise, seen the emergency bridal kit that saved my life, you’ve seen the rehearsal, and the getting ready events (plus the honey moon recaps).
Now it is time to finally share some of the more traditional moments of our reception!
Paul and I took pictures at the church and around the venue, some of my favorite pictures around the venue were these ones.
My mom actually posed us for this one, which I love.
Then we headed inside to our respective bridal and groom suites. I don’t know about the boys but we kicked things off with a round of tequila shots!
Kim, the venue/wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing. I literally didn’t have to worry about one thing, it was celebration time! Then it was time for the grand entry, we entered to “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton, ask me how I got that one through Mr. Hungry who hates country… I have NO idea.
We chose to go right into our first dance, which we danced to the classic “I can’t help falling in love with you” but the new version by Michael Buble.
After the dance we chose to mingle for a bit with our guests before dinner.
After/during dinner we went straight into the speeches. Our best man and former roommate Alex spoke first, he knows us really well individually and as a couple, so it was really cool to have him speak. His speech was so funny and really light hearted, it set a great tone for the evening.
Next up my childhood best friend said a few words.
My MOH and now SIL didn’t have quite such an easy time, but her speech was absolutely beautiful.
She made it through and we will always remember all the beautiful things she said the words of encouragements she offered.
Then it was time for us to make a toast and thank our guests for coming. Mr. Hungry in his typical fashion decided to wing it and at some point ended up saying a toast “to us”, everyone there burst into laughter and applauded.
After the toast and dinner we proceeded to the traditional dances. I was very lucky and blessed to share a dance with my Uncle Brian (Mom’s Brother).
Paul danced with his beautiful mom, they were definitely a tear jerking site.
Then it was time to get the party started!
We had all the great moments…
The bouquet toss…
The garter toss…
Cutting the cake…
Feeding each other the cake…
And a great night shared with the best people… like my mom…
… Paul’s parents…
And our ushers who I grew up with and are all like my brothers… I wish someone had a picture of them standing by the door of the church right before I walked down the isle. It was the best feeling to see them all smiling their goofy smiles at me, it meant a lot to me.
and the rest of my Madison Family, including my little sister Steph…. love them all
plus a few moms that wouldn’t get in the picture!
and of course our groomsmen…
and bridesmaids
and so so so many other close friends and family that we will be ever grateful that they could come share in our special day with us. As I look back I realize how lucky we were to have such a perfect day and be supported by so many wonderful people (over 100 to be exact). It makes all the stress of wedding planning totally worth it because we know that in our marriage we will always be supported and we truly feel blessed for that. We also are thankful for all our family and friends who couldn’t make it, but sent their love and prayers. 🙂
It’s four am as I finish this post, I’m off to shower and head down to Tucson for the Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic Annual Meeting. I’ll be back to recap it this weekend sometime. Have a great weekend!
