Hi Friends! I hope you had an AMAZING Thanksgiving! Ours was definitely a total win! We started the day bright and early with the Lifetime 5K Turkey Trot!
Guess who ran with me? Mr. Hungry!
And my supervisor at work, Julie!
It was kind of a double edge sword because I had been feeling a LOT better from Physical Therapy and my PT told me I probably shouldn’t run for two weeks. I told myself I would walk most of it but ended up jogging all of it, which caused a flare. Bad news I flared it, good news is I know that if I just listen to my PT for once I should be doing a lot better within a month or so. It’s hard when you’ve had something going on for so long to keep holding back, but the race felt great and I’m glad to get it out of my system.
After the race we headed to Breakfast at Coco’s with Mr. Hungry’s Aunt, Uncle, cousins and Grandma.
I got a delicious tomato basil egg white omelet and ate some of Mr. Hungry’s bacon.
Then we picked up my mom and headed home to get our Thanksgiving on!
A little while later everyone swung by to check out the house and drop off Mr. Hungry’s Grandma. Everything we made ended up being ready right on schedule around 330-400pm.
The menu was simple and delicious:
- 20lb Free Range Turkey from Sprouts and Gravy via Mr. Hungry
- Garlic Bread Stuffing via Mr. Hungry
- Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower via Me
- Sweet Potato Casserole topped with marshmallows as requested by Mr. Hungry
- Cranberry Sauce (from a can as requested by Mr. Hungry)
- Shrimp Cocktail Appetizer via my mom
- Cookies via my mom
Black Friday Deals
So as you guys know I just started working at my new job as a Lifetime Dietitian. What’s funny is as a member I never gave a second look to the supplements in the cafe because I assumed that they wouldn’t be that great and be overpriced. After learning more about the Lifetime product line and the Thorne supplement line I’m irritated with myself that I never looked into them before! Now I’m taking advantage of the free shipping on autoship orders for Black Friday, I’ve got my cart loaded and all I’ve got to do is purchase in the morning before work (this post is set to autopost since I have to be at the gym super early). I thought I’d share my cart with you since it’s 20% of all supplements on the Lifetime website. Yes these are affiliate links and I’m eligible for credits and/or compensation if you should use them to make a purchase. That being said, I’m only sharing with you the items I plan to purchase tomorrow to personally use (or for Mr. Hungry to use) because that’s how this blog works. I share what I believe in and what I use personally 🙂
I still have my Costco size multi-vitamins but I decided I can’t wait for them to run out. These ones are capsules that contain curcumin, an active component of tumeric which fights inflammation, and relora which helps to achieve high quality sleep. They also contain 2,500mg of Vitamin D per serving, which is unusual for a Multi-Vitamin. The Lifetime Women’s AM/PM and Men’s AM/PM are really solid high quality options as well, but for Lifetime members and employees the Thorne Multi-Vitamins are temporarily price matched with the Lifetime line so it’s a really good deal. I’m getting two boxes for Mr. Hungry and I because we both have inflammatory joint issues and I think they will really help fight inflammation and promote recovery.
Fish oil contains peppermint oil, genius, why doesn’t every fish oil have that?
So cheap, only $8 bucks!
So this is a really neat product that I’ve been exposed to through Lifetime. It contains 20 servings of freeze dried fruits and vegetables providing an antioxidant punch. It also contains a digestive blend composed of plant enzymes and non dairy probiotics. However, the real selling point for me was the taste, it’s similar to the Super Greens I used to get at Trader Joe’s but taste WAY better! I’ve been sampling it at my supplement booths in the morning mixed with Lifetime’s Chocolate Grassfed Whey Protein Powder or sometimes the VeganMax Protein powder, and it’s seriously DELICIOUS!
I’ve been using this to help recovery from Physical Therapy and Mr. Hungry has been using it to help support his digestive system which likes to act a little haywire. Right now the one we have is generic but after going to the FNCE talk about supplements, I’m pretty freaked out. I mean so many supplements contain so little of what they say they contain, if we are going to take it regularly I’d rather spend the money on something I know is good.
We haven’t been taking a probiotic and I think it’s time to start focusing on supporting healthy guts in the Shallal household. Research is really revealing how important it is for weight control, blood sugar regulation, and immune function.
There are a number of other things I really want to get but today I’m just purchasing what I feel is essential to support our healthy living goals. While I’m at work today Mr. Hungry is off hitting up Black Friday sales for a bed for our guest bedroom and a picking up a Christmas Tree!
Chat with me:
Have you ever stood in line to get a really good Black Friday deal?
Yes I stood in line to get a Cuisinart Food Processor at Macy’s one year and it’s awesome!
Are you working Black Friday or have you worked Black Fridays in the past?
Are you after something today? Did you get it???
