This morning I actually woke up even though I forgot to set an alarm! Whew…close one..
Middle of the Week Pick Me Ups
In the days in between Monday and Friday, I always do a few small things to keep me going:
1. Listen to upbeat 90’s music channel on Songza Ap in the morning. (My recent favorite- Mambo #5!)
2. Schedule a workout I REALLY look forward too, like Zumba.
3. Pick up a fun flavored coffee before work.
4. Have a couple dark chocolate almonds.
A Quick Switchback Elliptical Workout
Driving home from work yesterday I was so preoccupied thinking about stuff that I missed two turns and had to make two rather illegal u-turns to make up for it! Does this happen to anyone else or am I the only one that totally spaces when I drive?
Anyway, when I got home I quickly changed into workout cloths and checked my email. Then I heated up last night’s leftovers of TJ’s Shrimp Stir Fry and was out the door 15 minutes later. I had about a 45 minute window between eating and my workout, but turns out that was not enough. Let’s just say stir fry might not be the best pre workout meal!
Before heading into bodypump I jumped on the elliptical and powered through this workout:
Lately I have been avoiding the elliptical because I haven’t found it challenging enough. I think this might have something to do with watching modern family re-runs on my iphone during my workouts. So, yesterday I subbed the iphone for a magazine, which is easier to pick up and put down. I think that helped, plus, switching up the resistance and effort in short intervals kept me paying attention to the workout, so I ended up nice and sweaty. This workout was definitely challenging enough, without draining the power I needed for Bodypump class. Success!!!
I then came home and made a bowl of chocolate strawberry refrigerator oats for breakfast this morning to enjoy while I type up this post!
