Happy Healthy App Review Friday to everyone! For this week I found the BEST App, worth everything I paid for it and more! Can you tell this app review is going to be overwhelmingly positive? First, what is foam rolling? In a nutshell, using a foam roller is a form of self-massage. It can be therapeutic to treat and/or prevent injuries. It works primarily through myofascial release of trigger points in tight stressed muscles which helps promote healing and repair in the affected muscle. Further reading:

This week I tested out the foam roller app, just from the opening screen I knew it was going to be helpful.
Pick a body part and let the fun begin!
Let’s go with the Sacral Multifudus like I did since that is where the pain from my injury is primarily located.
Once you pick a muscle let the hurt-so-good fun start. The options are graded for your tolerance, regression being the least aggressive and advance progression being the most. Each video shows you proper technique and pointers.
Or you can chose an activity like hiking/running and target common muscles that would benefit from using a foam roller.
Your last option is to target an injury, for example shin splints.
There is also an info section which explains the basics of the Roll Release Technique and how to safely foam roll. Along with videos, each exercise also comes with tips about the muscles function and placement as well as tips for rolling that muscle group.
The icing on the cake comes with the credibility of the demonstrator and app developer, according to the about page “Dr. Emmons is a chiropractic sports specialist with extensive knowledge in sports related issues and injuries, with myofascial release being the primary focus.
Overall Pros:
- Convenient- you don’t have to search YouTube for the muscle that hurts or the injury you have, you have it all there at your fingertips.
- Credible- developed by an expert in chiropractic sports medicine.
- User Friendly – easily search by muscle, activity, or injury
- Demonstrations are clear and easy to follow
Overall Cons:
Overall
No overall RD score on this one since it dons’t have to do with food. Instead, I’ll just say that I highly recommend this app to just about anyone, I believe it was worth every penny.
