Bride and Bridesmaids
I’m going to keep up with wedding recap Friday from the last Friday (Rehearsal Recap), todays recap is about the getting ready moments. My mom, bridesmaids and I got ready at the Residence Inn in Gilbert, AZ near our church. I was so happy to have all my best friends, family and future in laws surround me on the happiest day of my life.
I was very fortunate to have each one of my bridesmaids represent a significant time period in my life. Back left is Whitney, my childhood best friend. Next to her and right behind me is one my sorority sisters and best friends from college, Danielle. Then Lizzie, one of my new little sisters in law and best friends. To the right of her is Jenny, my best friend from graduate school, ex-roommate, and fellow dietitian. Far left in the front is Kelsey, I met her when I did my internship in Spain for two months and she is one of my dearest friends. To my right and next to Kelsey is Alyssa, my freshman year college roommate and my other best friend from college. To my left is my Maid of Honor and now sister in law, Megan.
I love the detail shots our photographer took of my shoes… have I ever mentioned how much I love shoes?
I missed the pretty hanger detail so the shots of the dress are kind of hindered by an ugly black hanger, but you just can’t think of everything! When the photographer politely asked about the hanger my friends made me laugh by saying “Hey, If that’s the worst that happens you will be smooth sailing.” Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worse that happened.
Let me start off by saying that my hair stylist was phenomenal, I LOVED my hair and it stayed in and perfect all night. I had loved her from the trial we did and I loved her work on my wedding day. Her assistants on the other hand were TERRIBLE, absolutely horrible. It would have been one thing if they just weren’t very good and the hair didn’t look great, but instead it was really bad. The girls would show one of them a picture and it would turn out NOTHING like what they said. We were going for a loose up do but they wanted to slick back everyone’s hair. It would be okay if it was still pretty, but it wasn’t. As each girl sat down and disaster after disaster occurred, and then my Maid of Honor started crying… I seriously didn’t know what to do.
Fortunately I didn’t have to do anything because I have amazing best friends. This picture is re-enacting (since the photographer wasn’t there during the actual drama) how one of my best friends from college, Alyssa, totally saved me from a bridezilla emotional breakdown. She came over and grabbed my hands and just kept saying, “If this is the worst that happens” and I started laughing because the hair disaster way worse than a forgotten hanger. She held my hands and talked about other things while each girl tried to get the hairdresser to make their hair look somewhat decent. Finally, everyone had come up with something they were happy with (most fixed their hair after it was done) and it was timed to get dressed.
I was happy it was happy the hair disaster was over and it was almost time!
Finally we were ready to go!
This is how I rode to the church in my Maid of Honor/Sister In Laws car….
Groom and Groomsmen
Seems like the boys had it a little easier…. they kicked off the day with a game of basketball…
Paul and his mama after she got back from getting ready with the girls.
So much for the strict no drinking rule, they took a shot of Johnny Walker Black Whiskey…. all I’m saying is I could have used a shot during the hair catastrophe. Except I probably would have passed out after since I was too nervous to eat…. so maybe not…
Paul and his Dad getting ready…
All the guys ready to go!
Have a great Friday everyone!

Beautiful photos. Something always goes wrong at weddings. Hopefully the hair was really the worst that happened!

Despite the hair disaster, it looks like both parties had the best time getting ready!
