Hello friends! Guess what? The weather is finally cooling down in Arizona! The kids need jackets in the morning (I don’t because of breastfeeding hormones, haha). We’ve been busy this month, so I wanted to share some of the events we’ve been to. We’ve been doing a lot, and it’s made me think a lot about COVID-19 time. I’m just so grateful to be able to take the kids to events and do things with them as a family. It’s a lot of work and our house is a mess because we’ve been leaving on the weekends to go do stuff, but it’s also so much fun. Very very grateful.
But first!

JUST RELEASED! GUT HEALTH MEAL PLAN
I developed this 4-week gut health meal plan for my GI MAP clients to help promote gut healing and recovery. Overall, even if you aren’t doing GI testing, it’s a great meal plan to follow to improve and support gut health. I JUST released it along with my functional fab five GI supplement protocol last night on my website, so you guys are the first to find out about it! You can use code FridayFavs for 40% off!
Dino Museum – aka Natural History Museum Mesa, AZ
We took the kids to the Natural History Museum in Mesa for KJ’s birthday, and it was a HUGE hit. The kids LOVED it. The tickets are moderately priced compared to the zoo or aquarium too, so that’s a bonus. I’m definitely going to keep this on our summer indoor activity list! (They did have a small outdoor area where the kids could sift for gold in water, which was so cute!)
KJ’s Roar I’m 5 shirt was a hit from Amazon!
Tempe Free Art Fridays for Kids
After school drop-off for KJ, I took KK and Baby Girl to free art Fridays in Tempe. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with this event. There were a million activities, sensory bins, arts and crafts, photo ops, music, and more. Endless activities, all gear for kids 0-5. KK is pretty into art and music, so he had a blast! It happens about once a month, so I put the remaining ones on my calendar. I can’t wait to take him again!
PS I felt a little guilty taking the littles to this event while KJ was in school, but also, KJ really doesn’t love arts and crafts anyway. But, Mamas, do you ever feel guilty for doing fun stuff with your littles while your older kids are in school? Asking for a friend. haha
Bugfest – Arizona Boardwalk
Last weekend, we took the boys (well, the baby was there too, being a baby, haha) to Bugfest at the Arizona Boardwalk (where the aquarium and butterfly museum are.) The event was pretty cool; they did a butterfly release, and KJ caught a butterfly in his hand. The boys also saw a giant scorpion, a bunch of spiders, and live hissing cockroaches and tried flavored mealworms to eat (spit them out, haha). However, the lines were really long, and some people were cutting in, making them even longer, but I’m glad we went. I found out about another nature preserve in Scottsdale that I wasn’t aware of, so that was a win!
House Guest – Ivy
We had a house guest the last couple of weeks! Ivy is my Aunt’s dog who came to stay with us while they were on a cruise. Ivy is the sweetest dog ever and is Nala’s bestie. She did great, considering she generally lives in a quiet house up North with lots of hiking and going-for-ride opportunities (read the best life a dog can have.) She adjusted well to our chaotic household where there was always a child yelling, running, screaming, or laughing. She did prefer to be with a grown-up at all times while she was here, though, which made me laugh. She did not trust the kids, me either Ivy, me either. We will miss her now that she’s back home!
Big Girl Stroller
Look who’s big enough to ride in the big girl portion of the stroller. I’ve used this insert for all three babies when they were learning to sit up, and it’s been the best purchase ever!
Nora Eating
Baby girl recently started eating! I introduced cereal and some carrot puree. I’ll do baby-led weaning type foods after six months. I feel like Nala’s thinking, “I’ve been waiting for this since they brought another one home.” Job security of clean crew secured for another few years.
Fitness
Some days it be like that aimiright Mamas? My workout sessions often get interrupted by nursing sessions, and that’s okay!
Workouts have been okay lately. I consistently get in 3-5 a week, so that’s good. I’m on week 8 of the E & E running program, even though I started 12 weeks ago. While Ivy was here, I went on a lot of walks because she had that big puppy energy she needed to get out. I utilize the time to catch up on trainings and webinars I had signed up for but not listened to.
In general, my week looks like three strength training workouts and 2 runs. Sometimes less, sometimes (rarely) more. I’m losing weight at the same rate as I did last time, despite being less active, so it doesn’t bother me as much as it would have before.
That’s it! Now I’m out of here to go pick KJ up! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
