Happy World Tuna Day!
Did you know it’s World Tuna Day? Tuna is one of the worlds healthiest protein sources, but it can be easy to get in a rut with canned tuna. Here are four delicious protein packed recipes that use canned tuna in totally unique flavor packed ways!
Taco Tuna Quinoa Sliders
Taco Tuna Quinoa Sliders have only five ingredients and are the perfect grab and go snack or meal! You guys already know this is my recent favorite and perfect healthy cinco de mayo appetizers or meal!
Spicy Tuna Salad
Spicy Tuna Salad is packed with crunchy veggies, spicy flavor and can be made in less than 5 minutes, eat it on it’s own or throw it in a wrap!
Spicy Tuna Avocado Cakes
The protein packed spicy tuna avocado cakes are the perfect low carb snack or healthy portable meal. We’ve eaten them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks! They are perfect on their own or topped with a little sour cream!
Tzatziki Tuna Pitas
Surprisingly Tzatziki sauce makes a delicious whole wheat tuna pita sandwich! The cool creamy texture and fresh cucumber flavor is the perfect compliment to the slightly salty tuna. Makes a super easy mediterranean style lunch in minutes!
What’s your favorite way to eat tuna?
I love coming up with new ways to use canned tuna since it is so convenient, but my favorite way to eat it is in a good old fashion tuna melt! This weeks menu includes tuna melts for dinner all week with Havarti cheese and brown rice tortillas, it’s going to be DELICIOUS and super easy!
What was your favorite part of the weekend?
Definitely Mexican food and see friends at the cutest Baby Shower! I recapped the weekend photos last night here.
What are you most looking forward to in May?
As I said in Saturday Mornings Coffee Update post, there are so many things, I don’t think I could pick a favorite. I love the beginning of the month I use it as a little reset to clear out, refocus my goals and refresh my excitement!

Those taco tuna quinoa sliders are just in time for Cinco de Mayo. I just wish I liked quinoa but I can’t say I do. I think I’ll try the spicy tuna salad or the tuna avocado cakes instead.

That’s funny, my husband also thinks that Quinoa “taste like earth” and doesn’t want to get on the Quinoa train. I cook mine in broth which helps and in these patties you can barely taste it, taste more like a tuna veggie burger with taco seasoning ha ha!
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner says
It seems like everyday is national something day doesn’t it?! The avocado tuna cakes look interesting!
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says

These are such great ideas….tuna is such a great product, especially when you need something quick and you can stock in your pantry.
I can’t wait to try the spicy tuna….sounds much more “grown up” that traditional tuna dishes that I just associate with eating as a kid.
I still have to admit thought my favorite way to eat canned tuna is tuna melts too!! You just can’t beat them.
Great recipes!
