Happy Monday Friends!
First thing is first, if you haven’t checked out yesterdays post introducing the 52 Healthy Habits series check it out: tips for drinking more water!
I got started on this weeks goal by downloading the waterlogged app on Saturday. I should have added drink out of a straw to my tips, I always drink more water out of straw for some reason! So far day one went well!
10 Mile Run Recap
It wasn’t the roses I had hoped for but I’ll take it. I met the run group on Saturday morning (this time I got the time right) and we ran south down the canal. The first 6 miles went great. I mean I felt great despite the fact the ucan/ucan bar was sitting kind of funny in my stomach.
Mile 1- 8:22—> um what’s this race pace (for me)? Apparently I forgot I was going on a long run.
Mile 2- 9:55
Mile 3- 9:25
Mile 4- 9:54
Mile 5- 9: 46
Mile 6- 9:47
Like I said I felt great and I was happy I was pacing my normal pace and not last weeks super slow pace. Mile 6 to 7 was where every thing fell a part. It was so weird, my left leg started to cramp right above the knee on the inside. I don’t know if it was because the canal was heavily slanted, or I pushed it, or it was cold or whatever. It was weird I didn’t really know what to think, I didn’t even know what to stretch.
Mile 7- 13:31 —> stopped to walk and stretch it out .25 miles. We did a there and back loop so I had two choices, walk back or call Mr. Hungry. It didn’t really hurt that bad, I was just kind of freaked out. At this point I think every injury is going to be the game ender. #paranoid
Mile 8- 10:08 At mile 8 the tightness was there, but the tiny bit of pain just kind of dissipated. No. idea what that was all about, I made sure to slow my roll the rest of the run.
Mile 9- 10:27
Mile 10- 10:09
Luckily this week is a back off week so I rest yesterday and I’m not running again till Wednesday night’s track workout. I won’t push it on my mid week runs I’ll just let it be. The trick with running is being able to keep running, the best way to do that is strength train as much as possible, an area I’ve sadly failed at the last couple weeks, more on that later. Then I’ve got two more long runs schedule until the half marathon I’m planning to be at… third time is a charm 😉 Post long run/workout mess….
Happy Birthday Mr. Hungry!
Today Mr. Hungry turns 28! He is an amazing man and deserves an amazing birthday! (Picture from our Anniversary)
Mr. Hungry amazes me at his ability to fit in every single type of food known to man in a week time span. I usually celebrate my birthday from July 1st through July 4th Weekend so I understand the extended birthday thing, Mr. Hungry celebrates his from December 31st to January 4th. We are all about the birthday week in this house hold! So while the rest of the world is gearing up to recommit to their healthy clean diets, Mr. Hungry wants to go n a four day bender, vowing “we will start on January 5th.”
I mean I kind of feel bad for him, his birthday comes at a time when everyone is burnt out from the holidays and no one really wants to do anything. Plus, I don’t usually overhaul my diet in the New Year, but I am ready to get rid of sugar and alcohol for a while.
This year for his birthday he wanted an unlimited supply of frozen appetizers. He went to Safeway and picked out like 7 appetizers including 1 piece of fried chicken, deviled eggs, crab wontons, bacon wrapped steak, mac and cheese, a port wine cheese ball and then he got a few from TJ’s the next day too including mini pumpkin pies! We all keep wondering when his metabolism of a 15 year will catch up to him, so far it hasn’t…
I tried out a few but it wasn’t really my thing so more for him to enjoy! On Sunday I made him gluten free brownies…. okay Betty Crocker made him gluten free brownies….
I chose Betty because the ingredients were readable and it was the least expensive brownies at Target. Pretty good, we agreed we’d get them again!
Tonight I’m attempting to make homemade lobster for his dinner, send some good thoughts my way, I have literally no idea what I’m doing… fingers crossed…
Have a great Monday!
