Hello out there and Happy Monday! Who is in the mood for some mid day Monday motivation? Good, me too!
Let’s chat about the weekend shall we? Probably THE most low key weekend we’ve had a while and I can’t lie, it felt so good!
7 Mile Run
Saturday started with a run, I decided to keep it nice and steady since during last week’s 10 miler I had some weird problems. This one was definitely slow but when off without any complaints except having to pee the ENTIRE time.
1 Mi— 11:00/mi
2 Mi – 10:35/mi
3 Mi — 11:02/mi
4 Mi- 10:15/mi
5 Mi: 9:53/mi
6 Mi-10:00/mi
7 Mi- 10:02/mi
7.67 Mi
I literally ran straight to the door of the gym we start our run at, and almost ran to the bathroom, almost 8 miles of having to pee is no joke!
Excited I don’t have to pee anymore and for breakfast!
Chipotle
Spent like 3 hours catching up a with a friend I’ve known since I was a kid, I think the Chipotle employees thought we would never leave. I ate half while we were there and the other half when I got home, still under the four hour food safety rule!
(Recycled pick, but let’s be honest I get the same thing every time I go.)
Sunday
Aren’t lazy Sundays the best days?!?! One epic thing we did was make these muffins from our Food For Love Gluten Free box before Christmas. They are delicious, if I see the brand in a store I’m definitely going to pick up more! I intended them for a healthy on the go breakfast, but Mr. Hungry ate them for dessert. Love when breakfast and dessert are interchangeable 😉
With stats like these I’m totally counting these towards Sunday meal prep!
(Other than receiving the Food for Love box for a free sample, I don’t have an affiliation with the company. Just a yummy, clean product, I thought I’d share with all of you!)
Probably the only semi interesting thing to report, and I’m stretching here, was our orange picking outing. Whenever I go on walks with Nala I see oranges all over our neighborhood near the green strips and parks, I often pick one and eat it as we walk. Since we just moved here I have no idea whether or not they come through and pick up everything, but right now all I see is fruit going to waste.
So, I convinced Mr. Hungry to come pick some oranges for me so I could eat them, juice them, blend them, #eatthemall. He came on the condition I do not bring my camera, iPhone was permissable. ha ha! #lifeofablogger
It reminded me so much of when I was a kid because our neighborhood was lined with citrus fruit. Oranges were at my disposal whenever I wanted them, my Grandma used to joke that I was going to turn orange from eating so many oranges (like a Flamingo turns pink from eating shrimp?) I think one time I ate 9 in one day or something crazy, even just peeling an orange brings back fond memories which is good because I’ve got a lot to peel! So far I blended some and froze the puree and froze wedges of them for smoothies, let’s face it in AZ we’ve got another month of cold MAX then it will be smoothie time again!
The rest of the day was spent watching football, movies, and hanging out. AKA glorious
Monday Kickoff
Today post is a little later than usual because I’m getting started on training, and my goal of making breakfast the biggest meal of the day! It felt like a UCAN bar/coffee pre run day, just like old times. Funny because it’s actually National Hot Toddy day, I’m definitely using that as an excuse to have an extra cup 🙂
I knocked out a 5 mile run….
Then I chowed down on the breakfast that motivated me through the whole run, thinking about food = motivating my butt on the run to get too the food! Did someone say chocolate protein sunbutter oats?!? I forgot how good a big bowl of oatmeal is post run, probably the best thing ever!
I’ll post the recipe as soon as I can because it was DELICIOUS! Be sure to check out instagram & facebook, I’m likely to be able to post the recipe a bit sooner there than on the blog because this week is already jam pack full of recipes and posts, stay tuned!
Questions of the day:
How was your weekend?
What motivates you to get through a hard workout or run?
How do you find Monday motivation?
I read somewhere a quote, I really can’t remember where so if you know please link! “I used to hate Monday’s until I moved my hardest workout to Mondays, now I love them.” A hard workout like a good run or HIIT session totally gets me excited for the day! I used to make Mondays a rest day, but not anymore, now they are gonna be kick your butt day!
