Happy Memorial Day! Let me take a moment to say thank you to all those who have served in the armed forces to defend and protect the U.S. Not only them, but also their families which also make sacrifices daily so that we can sleep soundly. I have always been very proud to be able to say that my Uncle and Grandfather are both Veterans but I’ve also always been thankful that nothing happened to them. Today we remember those who gave the ultimate gift for our freedom, we also send love and prayers to their families who grieve their loss.
Now for the awkward transition… to recent happenings from this Memorial Day weekend. We had people over yesterday for grilling, so today we are keeping it kind of low key. (I might also be nursing a slight hangover.) We started the weekend with lots of coffee and hitting up Memorial Day furniture store sales. I get an iced coffee with nonfat milk and sugarfree white chocolate.
Followed by a delicious chicken salad from rubios, I would totally go back for this salad anytime! I used their salsa bar as my dressing, I LOVE salsa bars.
We did FINALLY find furniture for the downstairs…. and I even remembered to take before photos so I can show everyone before and after. I’m getting into the swing of this home decorating thing! Anyways, we had people over yesterday and Mr. Hungry grilled up some yummy chicken and tri tip steak. Check out this lighter thing his parents gave us it’s so cool.
You just plug it in and it heats up the self lighting coals almost instantly.
BAM! No need for lighter fluid!
Oh my goodness it was delicious! I made myself a big old salad with tons of barbecue sauce as the dressing and dove in! I even had a little bit of steak, even though I don’t usually eat red meat.
Then I proceeded with more than one tequila and sprite zero drinks, which led to an awesome bowling ally adventure that unfortunately/fortunately was not captured on camera, and an attempt to make Grandma’s cookies at midnight. We got up SUPER early and somehow cleaned the house, went to Lowes, stopped by dutch brothers for another iced coffee, and then kneaders for a hang-over cure.
Have a great Memorial Day everyone, I’ll be back a little later with grocery shopping and meal ideas for this short work week!
