Physical Therapy Updates
So on Monday, my hubby came into to PT with me to learn how to reset my pelvis. The PT does this test: while I lie on my back I lift up one leg and try to resist him pushing it down and then repeat on the other leg. On the left leg I’m able to resist him just fine, but on the right it just gives away no matter how hard I try. He then stretches the right hip flexor and has be do some stabilizing exercises, then he retests. After the stretching and exercises my right will match the strength of the left. The PT’s theory is that my pelvis is rotated in on the right side causing all the wrong muscles to compensate. He said the more I can correct my alignment the quicker I will hold it and therefore reduce pain (read get back to running and daily life.) So Mr. Hungry learned how to check and help me reset my alignment, which he does every single morning and night. I’m truly lucky to have such a wonderful husband. As for my progress, I can’t really tell yet. I think I’m getting stronger and holding the stabilization but the pain in the SI joint, glutes, pirformis is up and down still. I’m still on a running break and I’m considering prolotherapy when I get back from the conference, my PT said there is a good chance it can help. More on that later though, enough boo hoo injury chat for today, it’s Friday! Friday=treats and I’ve got a delicious one for you over at the Formulx Health and News Blog today!
