Hi friends! This is the first time I’m hoping onto the blog because I spent most of the week at the Consumer Connection conference hosted by the Fresh Produce Foundation (formerly the Produce for Better Health Foundation.) I’m so grateful I’ve had the opportunity to be involved as a Have A Plant ambassador for the last four years. I’ve met farmers, growers, retail dietitians, marketing experts, and so many more people integral to the produce industry. It’s the one place where you can connect with the many types of people who are responsible for making America a healthier place. People at this conference all have one goal in mind: to increase consumer consumption of produce, which is huge.
*Please note that, in full transparency, I was considered a Hosted VIP for this event, which means I was sponsored to attend. I’ve also gone to this event on my own dime in the past years. I absolutely believe in its value and would go either way!
One of my favorite events was learning about Friedas and the founder’s story as the woman responsible for introducing and renaming many American produce staples like Kiwi, Dragonfruit, and Spaghetti Squash. Fun fact, Kiwi was previously known as the Chinese Gooseberry.
People do interesting things when you ask them to take your photo ha ha I’m not sure what’s going on with the angle here.
Consumer Connection 2024 – FOOD
The one thing about the Consumer Connection conference is the food is UNREAL. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill hotel conference food. Huge thanks to the sponsors who made this delicious spread possible.
This burger was made from smoked cantaloupe!
Gnat Catcher
We had a gnat problem in our house that was driving me literally insane. At first, we bought the disgusting sticky traps you hang from the ceiling, and those caught zero gnats/fruit flies. But this light/sticky trap combo works like a charm. This light attractor/sticky paper combo attracts the fruit flies, and then they get stuck on the paper. Most get stuck on the side facing the wall, which is an added bonus, so you don’t have to look at all the dead fruit flies.
KIND Kids Chewy Bars
These kids KIND chewy bars were a hit in my house and the price isn’t bad either!
Fitness
Non-existent still. I’ve been having issues with my feet and neck, hoping to ease back in this weekend with a run.
