Place broccoli florets in a glass bowl; do not overfill (make sure the plate can lay flat), and add one inch of water to the bottom of the bowl. Sprinkle with salt.
Place glass plate on top of bowl, making sure plate is big enough to cover the whole bowl. Place bowl/plate in the microwave and cook on high for 3-5 minutes. Three minutes for more al dente broccoli, up to five minutes for softer broccoli. Remove the plate when cooking to avoid continuing to cook. Season as desired, and enjoy!
Notes
To store steamed broccoli: store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 1 minute, uncovered. To freeze steamed broccoli: eek, I wouldn't freeze cooked broccoli unless I had to. If you plan to freeze, I recommend barely steaming it and letting it cool completely before freezing to minimize the texture changes after freezing. Reheat in the microwave until defrosted and hot.
