Weekend Photos
We had a very chill weekend, especially since I’m still letting my back get better so no tough sweaty workouts. Sometimes chill weekends make me a little sad, I’m a total get up and go person, but they are also very refreshing so I’m good with it! You know what else, I have to apologize. If it matters to you I’ve taken ZERO photos of myself, what’s going on? I have no idea but I took a lot of photos of Mr. Hungry and Nala, I know I still have to show you guys my new short hair. Maybe I can’t tell if I’m loving it or not?
Walks with Nala to needed destinations:
Healthy vegan protein pancakes that Mr. Hungry loved! Success!
Basketball game
Post game In and Out!
Day In The Life
Yesterday I recorded what I did all day, warning it isn’t super interesting because no workouts and I didn’t have any Hungry Hobby RD client work/meetings or super close freelance deadlines so I worked on the blog and graded papers, the end. Oh well here it goes anyways…
5:38am I wake up without an alarm clock or anything, check my watch to see what time it is. It’s dead, great. Check my phone, it’s got some juice but it’s almost dead. Post my Monday Motivation Instagram Post I had scheduled while laying in bed. Reading it actually really motivates me to take on the day!
5:55am- downstairs, let Nala out to pee, give her antibiotics (I shove them in a slice of banana = least messy method I’ve found), then feed her (she gets one scoop of Grain Free Taste of the Wild Puppy Food and One Scoop Kirkland Grain Free Adult), fill up my water cup (the best change I’ve made recently is drinking water first thing in the morning, it starts the day on a really healthy foot!)
6:05am- head to the computer, pick a giveaway winner, add winner to Mondays post and publish, then starts an hour of blog promotion world wind while Nala takes every single toy she has out and flings them all over the living room and finishes off a tennis ball toy.
7:07am- water finished, it’s time for coffee and back to work
7:22am- help Mr. Hungry get his lunches together for the week, pick up Nala’s toy she ripped up and text chiropractor to see if I can get in today, no dice so it’s back to work
7:36am- resize photos and submit Southwest Cottage Cheese Muffin photos to foodie sites (I currently submit too food gawker, healthy aperture, finding vegan (when applicable), food spreading, food epix, dish folio, tasteologie, tastespotting, yum goggle, tasty kitchen, and Food 52)
8:03 Pup brings me the door mat for the backdoor, I figure its time for me to have breakfast anyway so I put back the door mat and make breakfast.
Today: 2 eggs on a piece of Alvarado St. Bakery toast with Cabot Vermont cheddar cheese and ketchup
8:25 eat breakfast and continue working, making phone calls to set up health and car appointments
10:13 computer overload, break time to shoot pasta dish photo
11:20 finish photo shoot, bring everything inside, decide it’s time for a snack
I made a blueberry cottage cheese “smoothie bowl”, after I snapped the photo I decided a few pieces of crumbled up failed pb and J muffins/ultimate superfood bars granola mix (basically I add the crumbs to the bag, or crumble up full ones in a bag to make a “granola”) from this weekend would be good in it, too lazy to snap the photo
11:40 Eat a piece of cheese and decide to start grade papers
12:40 eat salad and banana while continuing to grade lab reports
Pup gets bored and decides to go outside to lay in the sun several times
1:40 so. hungry. eat quest bar (unpictured) determined to finish damn papers. I maybe get up 5 times to let Nala in and out the backdoor and check on her to make sure she isn’t digging. —> about the lawn, we’ve so got to tackle that this weekend, she probably thinks she’s in the grasslands with all that overgrowth and weeds.
2:36 I give up, I need movement… take Nala for a walk promising myself to finish the papers when I get back. I definitely miss working out, can’t wait to get sweaty again soon! We walk for a really long time, Nala attempts friendship with horses…
3:42 We come home I pick all the clementines off the tree, eat two and put five in the freezer (my mother in law said she saw on the Kitchen you can freeze citrus and it will defrost perfectly) and four in the bowl on the counter.
3:52 start working on this post
4:02 back to grading papers… soooo close to finishing I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
4:17 finally finished grading papers! Glad that’s done for this week. Time to hunker down on some email
4:35 music please, turn on pandora’s alternative station
4:59 Mr. Hungry arrives home, plays with Nala a bit and heads upstairs to workout, I keep plugging away at email
5:59 6 emails left, I call that a MAJOR WIN I decide to step away from the computer and do the domestic thang, like put the dishes away … all the things I try not to do even when I don’t have clients and I’m at home with the pup all day glued to the computer screen.
6:25 print mailing label to send jeans back to stitch fix and run them up to the mailbox really fast —> I was so bummed when my jeans ripped 3 weeks after purchasing but Stitchfix was on it and perfectly okay with me returning them. I got an email asking if I had sent in my return and giving me a 48 hour window to complete sending them back so I had to get them in the mail!
6:45 eat dinner of Spaghetti Squash and hot italian sausage and dessert of a spoonful (okay two) of Sun Butter
7:10 upstairs to shower and get ready for bed
8:09 down stairs to watch TV (we are obsessed with Vikings) and crank out social media stuff
9:57 work on this post
10:17 upstairs and lights out!
Summer Body Goals Check In
Last week I set these goals for myself:
- Drink 16 -24 ounces of water before coffee or food (aka when I wake up). Yes, I did great and I think I’ve made this an every day habit!
- Always keep water with me and I know I’ll drink it. Yep, also did good at this, I think starting with water in the morning really helped me focus on it all day!
- Take all my supplements (MV, Fish Oil, sometimes Vitamin D and curcumin)- I was rockstar at this too!
- Limited dessert to 1x/week aka shut down the night time snacking– UH, No. I had healthy desserts though so that’s fine right?
This week:
I’m feeling some serious stall not necessarily in motivation, but in enthusiasm since I can’t work out. I think it’s hard when you can’t align your fitness and nutrition the way you want to! I see this a lot with my clients, it’s an all or nothing mentally. It’s just so much easier to do everything right than one or two things right? However the time off has given me a lot to think about, especially what direction I want my fitness to go. I think I want it to go in the direction of prioritizing strength training, not that I won’t be running I will forever love my weekend long runs. Just that I want to strength train a minimum of 4 day days a week and do more interval style running and cross training to improve speed.
1. Continue rocking out 1-3 from last week. That made me feel great!
2. Continue working on shutting down the late night snacking, no excuses. So far Monday went great, one day down!
2. Plate everything! In other words, don’t eat directly out of the fridge.
4. Try to get 10,000 steps a day, too keep movement up while my back heals (PS it already feels a lot better.) Oh, and keep doing my PT exercises!
