So there is going to be a lot of randomness going on in this post, but bare with me because it’s all good!

Weekend Running
Now let’s switch to running, so I’ve decided for the next couple weeks to tackle my long run and short run on the weekend in order to make Wednesdays free for Holidays like Christmas and New Years. So this weekend I tackled my long run of 8 miles Saturday morning and 24 hours later I was on the treadmill pushing through a tough 5 miles. I am actually pretty proud of myself that I completed the two back to back runs and didn’t die, win!
8 Mile Run Recap
So despite my yoga attempts on Friday, I was still pretty sore on Saturday when I set out for the run. I’ve kind of just accepted that as the norm for as long as I keep up crossfit… which I’m pretty sure is going to be a while considering I canceled my fancy gym membership yesterday.
Mile 1- 9:32
Mile 2- 8:52
Mile 3- 9:43
Mile 4- 11:39
At 3.75 miles I reached the trail head I had planned to get to, I ran on the trail for a total of a half a mile. Not very long but enough to get some nice views before heading home.
I’m not much of a trail runner so I slowed way down with the goal of not breaking an ankle. It was beautiful out and a nice breath of fresh air before turning back and heading home.
Mile 5- 9:28
Mile 6- 9:37
Mile 7- 9:24
Mile 8- ? I guess it doesn’t tell you when you stop it at 7.99
Total 7.99 miles average pace 9:47/mile
I’m still amazed at how much faster my times are than when I was actually training a couple of months ago. I looked back at some of the runs from September and I was averaging 11:46/mile on longer runs and struggling with hip pain, thats a full two minute difference! It just shows you that hard work and REST can pay off. 🙂
5 Mile Treadmill Run
Just do this and you don’t have to work out on Christmas, just keep going, it’s almost over… yep those were the things running through my head during this workout. It definitely was no leisurely run and it I wasn’t bored for a minute. I mixed in some 8.0 sprints that just about killed me, but I did them!
Weekend Advent Jar Update
This weekend we cheated on the advent jar, we didnt’ draw randomly… we knew what was left in the jar and decided to use the ones we wanted. The point is we did them right? Next year we will have a strict random no re draw rule… but this year no rules were set in place prior to the start of the advent jar… so anything goes… .
Friday (12/20)- Foot Rubs–> Amazing for after shopping and that one was random.
Saturday (12/21)- Get Favorite Starbucks Holiday Drink, which we drank during the Hobbit. I couldn’t wait one more second for a salted caramel mocha, so good.
Sunday (12/22)- Wrap Presents and Have a Drink—> that had to happen
In addition to the advent jar stuff, seeing the Hobbit, going to hair appointments, and grocery shopping we did the weekend chores around the house. I snapped these pictures while Missy was playing in the sheets while we tried to make the bed.
Cracks. Me. Up.

The Hobbit was good, way better than LOTR in my opinion!
