Food
Some of you requested a day of eats instead of the week review, which is great because this week has been cray cray so here is yesterday with some super ugly photos! This was yesterday so it was a REST day. My rest days don’t change that much from my workout days, I just follow my hunger.
Woke up later than usual at 6:10 am, made iced coffee with cold brew and unsweetened flax milk, took a few sips and took Nala on a 30ish minute walk.
Around 7 am I ate what I’m calling “Alyssa’s Oats”- aka oats that will fill you up and energize you. I’ll be sharing the full recipe soon but it’s an epic combo of oats, collagen, pb2, blueberries, dried cherries, and peanut butter. (no idea why my phone won’t focus on my oats!) I also drank my coffee.
Those oats filled me up for FIVE hours! It was insane I’ve never had oats be so filling so satisfying. I also felt like I craved less sugar all day because I had an epic balanced breakfast. I also swung by Starbucks for a Venti blonde roast after taking Nala to the farm for the move. I drank about 1/3 of it and I’m saving the rest for today.
Lunch was at 12 pm and it was broiled salmon with everything seasoning from TJ’s plus cauliflower rice, but I didn’t realize I was going to do this recap so here is one from the day before with grilled cauliflower. Thanks to TJ’s frozen foods!
After lunch, I had a few handfuls ofcinnamon puffins.
Around 4 pm I had a peanut butter perfect barprior to leaving for a really long night of meetings at the community college I teach at.
Around 6:30 pm I dug into a super sexy (read extremely plain) salad provided by one of the meetings.
I was pretty proud of myself because there were a bunch of desserts but I wasn’t interested in them at all. I really think that when I have more healthy carbs throughout the day my interest in dessert goes down. I did have one bite of baklava Mr. Hungry stashed in the fridge from a work luncheon he had! I also drank almost of a gallon of water yesterday, so proud of that too!
Favorites
Every month Barkbox CRACKS me up, every month I always say it’s totally worth the 20 bucks a month. Nala gets new toys, I get rid of the ratty ones without hesitation and we always have treats on hand.
Nala and I will miss our friend Albert. Albert, I don’t know if you are the ugliest duck I’ve ever seen or a goose, but you will be missed.
Of course, my favorite part of this week was getting the keys!!!! Mr. Hungry was at work but my in laws were with me and our awesome realtor, Zach!

Hello! I love your blog. Totally unrelated question: I read a while back that you had gained a bit of weight while trying to get your period back. How are you coping with this? Have you lost any of the weight? I am currently in the same boat. I had had had to gain weight to get my period back. However, now I would like to loose just five pounds. But it has been a struggle. The weight is just not moving. Any advice?
Kelli Shallal MPH RD says
Hi Mari! I totally feel you on that! I did lose about 4-5 pounds of the 10 or so I gained, after that I stopped tracking. I decided that my goal is to be healthy (and fertile ha ha) long term and have a good relationship with food. I felt like I couldn’t do that if I was tracking all the time!
