Introducing Formulx- Intense Training Supplements
Hi everyone!  I’ve got an awesome treat to make your Wednesday a bit better!  Today I’m so excited to announce to you my new partnership with Formulx (affiliate link), a company that produces intense training supplements.  I stumbled on Formulx long ago via Juli’s blog and had always wanted to try it.  I was nervous about ordering it though because so many protein powders don’t taste good at all.  One of the worst things ever is when you buy a high quality protein powder only to find out you can’t stand it!  So when Formulx made available sample recovery packs I ordered one right away.  One protein shake later and I was on my computer ordering one chocolate and one vanilla tub.
I was excited and honored when they reached out to me and wanted to hear my thoughts on the product from a Registered Dietitians viewpoint. Â Honestly, I could not be more impressed with the high quality ingredients in their products and the delicious taste of their protein powders. Â After chatting with them a bit I learned that Formulx began about two years ago by a couple of guys in Miami, Florida looking for a protein powder that would speed recovery, taste great, and have only clean high quality ingredients. It took them around a year (and a bunch of failed gross tasting recipes) to develop the product they have today. Â I love their story and their products, that’s why I’m so excited to share it with you here today. Â I’m also happy to announce that I will be working with them by developing recipes, as a brand affiliate, and as a contributor to their awesome health blog (starting later this month).
Recovery Smoothie
When I got beets in my farmbox a couple of weeks ago, after making some juice, I had the idea for the ultimate recovery smoothie. Â Beets (especially their juice) are full of nitrates (not the same as the kind in cured meats, these are amine free), which once converted in the body to nitric oxide causes increased blood flow through vasodilation. Â Eating beets has been shown to effectively increase the performance of endurance athletes as well as increase power output in weight lifters. Â One study found that beet juice improved oxygen use and exercise tolerance. Â Another study found that runners given beet juice before a race were 3% faster or about 41 seconds off their time compared to when they didn’t drink the beet juice. Â Beets also include betaine, which has been shown to help increase gains in strength.

So all this is great but beets taste like earth and although their juice is slightly sweet, it still taste like it’s from the ground. Â This smoothie on the other hand contains all the recovery benefits of beets and whey protein, but it doesn’t taste like earth, it taste like sweet succulent berries! Â It’s a refreshing and delicious post workout treat/recovery drink. Definitely give this smoothie a try!
