Happy Friday, I forgot my kids lunch and ended up giving him 3 different kinds of bars and two fruit leathers for lunch today. At least I had the snack bag with me. So this Friday is feeling a bit like a Monday over here. This weekend we’ve got a friend visiting from out of town, baseball practice, a birthday party (my go-to birthday gift for preschoolers) and more. It’s going to fly by, meaning Costco is on the agenda for tonight. Parenting little kids man, it just never stops. I’m going to pretend like it gets easier as they get older, if it doesn’t, don’t spoil the hope for me ha ha.

Easter Fun/Recap 2024
Easter was cold and rainy over here in Arizona. Hyping kids up on a bunch of sugar and then keeping them inside all day wasn’t my favorite thing ever. But, we did it and it wasn’t too bad ha ha As mentioned in my last Friday Favorites, the Easter bunny didn’t bring presents on his own. He did however deliver presents from the kids Auntie and Poppie (great Aunt and Uncle).

We hung out at our house in the morning with my Mom ( who also brought big baskets for the kids.) I made deviled eggs (used a Spend with Pennies recipe) and my 4 Ingredients Trader Joe’s Broccoli Slaw salad (although I had to get the poppyseed dressing from Trader Joe’s because apparently they discontinued their poppyseed dressing. The one by Briannas was delicious though! Got it at Sprouts!)
My mom brought this picture of me in an “Easter basket” and wanted to recreate for baby girl. She’s about two months older than me in the Easter pic, but I still think we look alike!
My MIL and I each had an espresso martini and that was delicious! The mix had vodka and espresso liquor in it, we drank it straight with a little chocolate syrup drizzle in the glasses. I need to get my hands on a bottle, she said she got it at Costco but they don’t have it anymore. I did see they have it at Target though!
Mischievous Almost 3
I forgot how wild, mischievous, and downright unpredictable three year olds are. Three was a TOUGH year for KJ and in many ways it seems his brother is walking in his footsteps. KK will hit three in just six short weeks and I don’t think I’m prepared for the terrible tornado threes. This week he filled up the bathtub and if KJ hadn’t told me we would have left the house and it would have flooded the bathroom. Lord help me.
LuLu Align Dress
YOU GUYS! I’ve been working on rebuilding my wardrobe now that I have no plans to go back into pregnancy ever again. As a mom with young kids, it’s hard to fight the urge to wear leggings or athletic shorts ever day. I’m still in my baby carrying, toddler chasing, butt wiping era. Restrictive clothes don’t really jive with that. Being a mother to young kids is an active job. The littles are at home with me all the time so even when I have a sitter I’m picking them up, lending a hand, getting sticky fingers all over me.
This Lululemon Align Dress is leggings for your whole body. (Don’t mind my super dirty tennis shoes I am replacing those this month lol)
It’s not cheap, clocking in at $148. But honestly, after wearing it a couple times I feel the price tag is 100% worth the comfort paired with versatility, flexibility, and flattery. Reviews say to purchase a size up but I went with my current size (size 6) since I’m still a size up from my normal size (size 4). And honestly I love the way it fits right now. I can’t tell you how comfortable and flattering it is. Even better, it has built in shorts that detach in the back part so you can go to the bathroom without taking the whole thing off, you just pull the shorts down over your butt. This is great because kids give you zero privacy anyways, last thing I need is to pull the whole thing off and be naked while going to the bathroom with 3 kids hanging on me. No thank you.
PS I’m wearing a very run of the mill athletic jacket I got a million years ago over the dress which is a tank top style. It’s like 50 in the morning here and 90 by the afternoon.
The New Primal Jerky Sticks
Mr. Hungry and I have been devouring these turkey jerky sticks. I actually cancelled my Thrive Market membership because of these. One of the main things I got through there was jerky sticks and kids snacks. Lately Amazon has been winning with pricing of all those things so I cancelled my renewal this month. You can see my “influencer review video here.”
I also added it to my Amazon Food and Snacks lists.
The Bug Book – Easter present
The one thing the Easter Bunny did bring was this Bug Book and the boys loved it! (Full review video here and I added it to my Amazon Kids Book List.)
Urban Decay Make Up Setter
The Urban Decay Make Up Setter has been my go-to make up setter for years! I love that one bottle lasts months and it works well. It worked well in college setting my make up for the night, now it works well setting my make up for a day filled with work and kids. Possible more sweaty than a night out dancing ha ha
Downside it’s on the pricier side. If anyone has one they love for cheaper that actually works I’m all ears but every time I try to switch it’s never as good. Added to my Amazon Personal Care Products List. (I have a non toxic list and a regular list, ha ha because I haven’t switched everything!)
The XX Brain
I’m almost finished with listening to the XX Brain on Audible, you know I found a book useful when I order the hard copy to reference too. Particularly I wanted to be able to reference the diagnostic testing, genetic specific nutrition recommendations (those with the APOE-4 gene may not metabolize some dietary fats as well), and Hormone Replacement Decision flowchart for my clients. Really great resources for practitioners and consumers! And I have to say this book blew me away with it’s statistics about women’s risk of cognitive decline. My grandfather suffered from dementia, age related or true Alzheimers I don’t know. I don’t think we were ever given a straight response.
One statistic that really stuck with me is women in their sixties are about twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s over the rest of their lives as they are to develop breast cancer.
That’s a HUGE amount. The Author does a great job at summarizing a lot of research without too much bias. There were a couple of calorie restriction recommendations in the book that I didn’t agree with (that were mentioned but not focused on) but overall, a really impactful book I would recommend to anyone with a family history of alzheimers or dementia. I’m going to read the sequel (the Menopause Brain) next. Brain fog is by far the number one complaint I get from my clients in menopause.
Fitness
Fitness was a fail this week. I had to go into the chiropractor to figure out an issue with my foot, got that squared away and then pulled my neck doing pull ups. Not a great week for fitness at all. Oh well.
