Happy Thursday everyone, one more day till the weekend! I can almost hear myself singing TGIF ….tomorrow that is anyways. Guess what?!? I went to the gym last night for the first time in forever! (Okay well I’d been there to swim and for the personal training session, but not just to do a workout on my own.) I did a short little treadmill run then decided to work on my goal of doing a unassisted pull up some day. I had a really weird feeling happen to me though. I used to feel most at home on the treadmill and like a scared little mouse in the weight room. However since I’ve been injured I’m always weary of running too much/too fast and then I start to feel self conscious of my slow and safe pace. So after I was done jogging I headed over to the lat pull down machine and started busting out super sets of pull downs and push ups like it was my job! It felt amazing and I felt so comfortable in a sea of weight lifting men, what happened to me? My strengths and comfort zone have totally shifted in the last couple of months. I’m really not sure what to make of it but I can’t say that I hate it. I know that running will come back in time but strength and comfort in the weight room is hard to achieve.
Here are the supersets I did, 3 rounds of each set:
15 lat pull downs + 10 push ups (straight legs)
10 assisted pull ups + 10 dips
15 bicep crossovers + 10 upward rows
Shifting gears a bit I was hungry after I got back from the gym since I hadn’t eaten since lunch. Last night’s dinner came together so quickly and was delicious so I knew I had to share it. When I was at Costco last weekend I couldn’t pass up buying three dips from Baba’s Food’s…
I love their dips because they taste amazing and are basically preservative free, it’s the next best thing to whipping out the food processor and making it yourself… only less work and no clean up.
When I sampled the Tzatziki dip I don’t know why but I immediately envisioned it as a base for a tuna pita, so that’s what we had for dinner last night!
Ingredients:
- 1/8 chopped red onion
- 3 stalks celery, chopped
- 1/4 cucumber chopped
- 3 cans drained tuna in water
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup Tzatziki sauce (depending on how creamy you like your tuna salad)
- garlic powder, black pepper, salt
- Whole wheat pita
Directions:
- Combine first 5 ingredients (substitute veggies as you wish, tomatoes would be a nice addition) in a large bowl.
- Season to taste, I added garlic, black pepper, and salt until I thought the flavors “popped.”
- Stuff a whole wheat pita and enjoy!
After dinner there was enough leftover to make at least two more pitas or tuna sandwiches so I’d say it makes about 4 servings (2 man size portions and 2 lady size portions).
